How long did you take? Was it what your dr suggested? Was it too long or too short? I work for an orthodontist, so I'm up and down all day. Thinking of taking 2 weeks off then just lab work on the 3rd week before going back to patients in the 4th week.

I think it is individual. 11 days post op I was on a ladder painting my house. My friend after hers was in discomfort for a month. Maybe take off for 4 weeks, but tell work depending on how you are feeling, you may be able to come back sooner.

I took off 3 weeks. It wasn't the pain that was problematic for me, but the nausea. I was super nauseated still after 2 weeks and am just now starting to feel better. My doctor suggested between 2-4.

My doctor recommended four weeks.  I had six available so that's what I took.  I will be eight weeks out tomorrow and still tire easily.

Just to give a view from the other end of the spectrum... I was back at work 6 days after surgery and doing fine, I would have been perfectly happy going back 3 or 4 days post op. However I had no pain from the get go, no complications, no mobility or food issues. I also work from home.

My surgeon only approves two weeks unless you have complications. I took the whole two weeks but was feeling well enough to go back after one week.

I took two weeks, but my first 'week' back was a three day work week. I have a desk job. For me it was very important to get back to a routine.

I took 6 weeks because thats what my short term disability allowed.  I am SOOO glad I did. I have a desk job and probably could have come back at 3 weeks but that last 3 weeks was a start for getting a schedule. I had 3 weeks to figure out when/how I was going to eat and when I was going to walk or workout and still could take a nap in the middle of the day.  I started working out at 4:30 - 5:30 knowing I couls sustain that after I went to work. I also did a lot of prep cooking and freezing of thinks like chili, chicken taco stuff (the inside stuff no taco) and things like that.  Its been great for days I didnt have something from dinner before to take to lunch cause I could just grab and go.   I say if you can afford it or you have Short Term Disability try to take off at least 3 weeks.  You will most likely feel up to it (minus needing a nap) at the end of 2 but that last week is when you do some good healing and start to feel a little more normal.

Please note - these are only what I saw for me. Everyone is different some people felt great at 1 week some don't feel good for awhile.

The max my doc allowed (without complications) was 3 weeks. I took 2. I was tired when I went back but that was it. I am glad I only took 2.
