Does your new tummy prefer cold or warm liquids?

HELLO!!!

I have noticed over the past few weeks (I am 2 months out of surgery) that when I drink cool/cold liquids, my new baby tummy doesn't like it. However, if I drink warm liquids, it doesn't seem to be bothered. What is the deal???

Mine has days like that. I find I can almost tell that morning that I won't be able to drink cold - even before I drink anything at all. For me, it only needs a hot drink to warm up, but then tolerates cold just fine.

Hot tea helps a lot.

It's a shame, because what I always want is icy water.

It is pretty common very early on for some to people to tolerate different temperatures in their fluids.

I agree, for several months I had a warm decaf tea first thing, then the rest of the day I could do the ice water.  I am good now to do anything in the AM.

In the first few months post op if my water wasn't near solid ice, I wasn't happy. It's funny because in all my pre-op support group meetings everyone said I would never drin**** cold drinks again.

Now 2 1/2 years later, I can drink anything but I prefer room temperature bottled water; probably because I'm a gulper. Room temp is easier when it's bottoms up!  I love to drink water!

Many people say cold things bother their pouch in the beginning.  I actually found anything that was not super icy cold made me nauseous, though.  At this point, any temp is fine, but I still prefer drinks very cold (unless it's something like hot tea, which I like pretty hot).  Room temp liquids are just blah to me.

My kids say I have an iron tongue as I much prefer hot hot hot...like really hot.  Room temperature is just yucky to me.  Except for water...I can drink it at any temp from boiling to icy cold.  But...in the beginning of this journey...hot did much better than cold.

I am almost six months out and I do better to start with warm beverages and then the rest of the day, no problem.

Pre op I had to have everything ice cold most times slushy. Post op I had this issue in the beginning. My tummy couldnt handle the cold drinks. I'm almost 5 months out and I'm back to the norm now.

Nothing seems to bother my new pouch...thankfully. I have found that I'm kinda grossed out by warm beverages right now though...especially broth. Even the thought makes me gag.
