I am terrified my pouch willl grow?
My surgery was Monday, 9/30. I sm still in the hospital and because of gas issues. Anyway, I am concerned I will drink too much water or other things from the liquid only diet, and my pouch will expand too fast. Is this a real concern or is it really not likely to happen? Today I have had mostly water, tomato soup and tea. I don't know how many oz of water but I had one oz of tea and two ounces of tomato soup. Am I stretching my stomach to fast? I feel really full even though I am eating what they tell me to when they tell me to eat it. I will ask next time I see the dr but that isnt until tomorrow. Thanks for helping ease my mind.
To stretch out a pouch or stoma would take repeated and excessive quantities of food, not liquids, so worry not! Our pouches are supposed to "mature" over time, that is expand a tiny bit, so that we don't starve to death over the long haul, but so long as you're sticking to your plan over the long haul, you're in the clear!
