When do you quit eating at night?
I love the Winnie the Pooh reference.
To answer the OP, I eat something an hour before bed. It's weird that it's okay for us to have a nighttime snack, isn't it?

I would never get enough protein or calories if I only ate three times a day. I would also feel hungry and irritable, and my blood sugar would drop dangerously low (it's been as low as 37 when I've checked it). If I ate my last meal at 7:30 pm, I would be starving by the time I went to bed around midnight. I would wake up a couple hours later drenched in sweat, disoriented, shaking, miserable.

My surgeon suggests only 3 meals and no snacks. It just didn't work for me. I work a 10 hour day and the stretch between lunch and dinner was just too much for me to make without a snack. Then during my 2nd year I began to have some issues with my blood sugar dropping so I had to make more adjustments. I eat every 3 hours or so now usually. It is odd that other days I will turn around and realize I haven't eaten at all..but most days my body lets me know I need to eat if I go to long. So I try not to go too long in between meals just to avoid the shakes, rapid heartbeat and dizziness that is the signal to eat now or else.
As you get farther out you will see what works for you. Could be the 3 meals will be the system you use.
My surgeons's plan was 3 meals and 2-3 snacks for the first 6 months, but then dropping the snacks at that point since we would be able to eat larger meals. She discovered that this was problematic for many, not only in terms of getting enough nutrition but also in terms of keeping blood sugar stable, so she stopped saying no snacks after 6 months and started emphasizing protein first throughout the day.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
You are still early out... the more you lose - the trickier it may be to keep BS stable at night...
Long term RNY (1-2 years+ post op) - we have tendency to have low B sugar issue if we don't eat every few hours. sleep is a more than few hrs... I woke up a any times with low BS around 2 or 3 am.. not cool. Now I don't..and I typically offset my eating and eat starting at 10 or 11 am..

Mine is three meals and no snacks too. I try to eat my last meal as close to bed time as I can, but my schedule is whacky. Seems like so many people have the 3 meals and 2 snacks plan. My plan does not allow ANY dairy, vegetables or beans until three months out and no fruit until six months. That part stinks because I would really like some damn fiber! My plan also went straight to hard core protein on day three post op (puréed) and then regular at day 14. It amazes me how different all the plans are and I have to admit sometimes drives me nuts. I'm allowed meat, eggs and fish (which I don't care for). It has been difficult, but we keep trucking along. Can't wait to eat some veggies. I thought I would never say that in my life! Lol!
