Unsweetened Cereal
I went to the grocery store to look for some granola, tried the cereal isle but there are so many kinds and when I look at the label I really don't know what all I'm looking for and how much is to much per serving. How much sugar, carbs, and fat, I'm 9 weeks out so I know I may tolerate more later but for now I'm confused. What are the numbers I'm looking for to be alright for me ? what is important to look at ?

The yogurt and grape nuts are a much better choice than a bowl full of carbs that you get in most cereals! They are all so laden with sugars.........and carbs. If you use the low fat yoghurt and add some nuts, grape-nuts, maybe some chia seeds or any other type seeds, or some protein powder, you can really up the quality of your breakfast!

I want to start eating some dry cereal with milk, what do you suggest ?
Are you allowed to have it? I was thinking you were newly post-op...and I know plans are all different...but per my nutritionist, it is pretty much the devil for RNY patients.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
Keep in mind that cereal with milk violates the rule about drinking and eating at the same time, and you will need to be very careful to measure your portion since you won't be able to rely on feeling full. That is also part of the reason that cereal makes some people dump... Because it gets washed into the intestine right away.
My surgeon strongly discouraged it. As much as fried foods, in fact. If you must eat it, find one with as much protein and as few carbs as possible. Not a particularly good choice on a regular basis even with a higher protein option, though...

ETA: after reading PHM's response, I looked at your previous posts. If you are only 2 months post op, you should strongly reconsider eating cereal.

I suggest checking your surgeon's plan, first. Is cereal on it so early out?
