Question about the Liver Shrinking Diet.. Did I mess up?
I am currently on the liver shrinking diet. Last night, after the gym, I made boiled chicken with homemade guacamole. It was not until later when I logged my foods that I realized how high in calories and fat avocados are.
And I had 3. :( That was a little over 900 calories, 88g of fat, and 51g of carbs.
Did I mess myself up???? :(
One bad meal is not going to doom you. Maybe you do not end up as good as if you had never eaten it, but what you want to take from this is what did you learn.
You learned in new food situations to pre-track. To never assume how good or bad something is. And that one bad choice or one good choice does not ultimately change your journey. It is the culmination of unhealthy food choices that have put us here, and it is the sum total of the better choices ahead that will benefit our health.
It's not the end of the world. At least you know now. If you're a guacamole addict, like me, I would buy the single serve packages (comes in a container of 4). It's premeasured so you won't overeat. I don't count fat grams at all now (I'm almost 16 months out), but guacamole is one of those foods that I wouldn't have every day and is super easy to overeat!
You are so right about that. I had my very first taste of guacamole less than 2 months ago. I am a complete and utter addict. But yesterday, I really thought I was doing good.
Thanks to both of you I realize it is not the end of the world. I was just worried since I am on the Liver Shrinking diet. I don't want to hinder myself at any point. You know?
Thanks Karen! :)
Ellen, it is a diet to aid in shrinking your liver before surgery. It's basically like Atkins because it is all about the protein and not a lot carbs. My dr has be drinking. Protein shake for breakfast and lunch with a protein based sensible dinner. I can have snacks in between meals but she suggests things like jello. :)
Just FYI, many surgeons don't believe that a two-week low fat diet is sufficient to significantly shrink the liver, anyway (so many of them don't require one).
Don't fret.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
