Couple questions

Sometimes when I get full or are approaching full, I'll get the hiccups. This is a new thing for me. Another poster mentioned "one more bite". This is a big problem with me, especially when eating out and my food isn't pre-measured. I'm getting better at being content with my fullness and pushing the plate away. I don't think I feel full longer these days, but I no longer feel stuffed after eating.

I am only 2 months out and I do feel hunger at times. Not ravenous hunger, more like I need to eat something. Changes day to day. Then there is the old mindset, of "I want to eat something" that you have to fight... surgery doesn't change your brain as I've read many times on this board. I find reading the 'What are eating today RNYers?' Posts helpful to read for ideas. Grim Traveller is right about the solid foods. When I was yogurt and soft foods I was so worried because I felt like I could eat more than they said, When I switched to solids that changed. Got full fast. Your tastebuds change... sometimes I take 2 bites of something and I am like-that's enough. More has to do with taste than fullness.

I am struggling to figure out the exercise myself. I have a beautiful pool with a heater so I was swimming up until the first week of September. Now I have been kind of haphazard with my exercise and need to decide. I have belonged to a gym in the past and said I would never join again. There are plenty of routines on you tube and on demand as another poster said. Even if you just do 10-15 minutes at a time, it is all good. Good Luck!

There's always indoor walking at the mall.  Some malls open early [before the stores open] for walkers.

Cold weather working out -

I do belong to a gym through the local community college.  It's about $25/month and they've got something like 40 classes a week that I can pick and choose from.  (Plus a pool and gym.)  I really do recommend finding something like this.  I tried out all the classes that appealed to me to see what would stick and now I go to six a week.

But, otherwise, I'm training for a 5k, and will then be training for my next 5k throughout the winter, so I'll always be training for a 5k!  I run outside and, in the winter, I'll continue - just with more layers.  Even if you're just walking outside every day, you can do that in the cold and then start doing more once the weather warms up!

I am about two months out from RNY. I never feel hungry. EVER. I have to remind myself to eat when I get busy at work.

I make a point of never eating to feeling full, because I ate too much one time and it hurt terribly for a couple of hours. I have never really eaten with the idea of feeling full, even pre-op. I would binge and be gross feeling, but I didn't eat with the intention of being full, if that makes any sense at all.

As far as exercise, there are tons of great videos on youtube and you can get some light weights. I have heard over and over again that strength training really helps with success in long term weight maintenance.

You've gotten some great replies already so I'll just add that I did not have much hunger the first year, now I do but wait til it's time to eat and eat my protein first then a bit of veg if I want more. I love the small portions it does help to fill up quickly. At this point tho (a yr or so), don't dawdle for too long because you can eat more that way.

And my favorite outdoor exercise in winter is snowshoeing! I also run and I swim at the university pool as well as my gym time.  Good luck to you ~~
