Am too lazy and tired to read through all the comments, but if no one has mentioned it, I ONLY use small plates - always.  I use paper ones and recycle cuz I hate washing dishes in any way.  But the little plate trick really works.  Also, when I was a new post-op I bought baby food spoons on Amazon - forced me to take small bites.  I still use them on occasion if I'm feeling ravenous as a way to sllllllooooowwww down.  :-)

Yes, everyone has commented and said what you are saying pretty much. Thank you for your advice!

I want you to know that I appreciate your post, I am new to all of this and they are trying to get me to have the surgery before we leave (we are military). I hear what the dietitians are saying and the support groups are cool but you rarely hear something like this. This is what I need to know. I eat small and slow anyway, however I know I will still eat a lot less than I do now. So thank you. Even though you got scolded LOL. Please remember that you ARE doing this. You are already a winner and a very brave person. You WILL reach your goal with pride. We all mess up. That is how we learn and how we teach. By you messing up you are teaching me what it is really like. Stay strong, Congrats and God Bless.
