You are right, I guess I am putting too much food in there. Thanks for scolding me.

Your best bet is to get out your measuring cups especially at home. If you are eating out, have your server bring a to go box with your meal and put all but one cup of food into the box right off the bat.

No, you definitely aren't the only one who struggles with new mealtime habits, so don't be so hard on yourself.

Some things that people find helpful are: putting the fork/spoon down between bites; using saucers, dessert plates, or salad plates instead of dinner plates (and cups instead of bowls); measuring portions (either with actual measuring cups or with things like bathroom-sized Dixie cups); counting the number of times that you chew each bite.

Also, if you are doing something else while you are eating (e.g., watching television), stop it.  Focus on nothing but the process of chewing/eating.

I use a salad plate for meals now as well.  Helps out a lot.

What Laura said.  I actually have my OWN bowl in my purse that I take everywhere. THis little bowl ONLY holds 1/4 cup (no matter how I stuff it). When at a restaurant/ whereever, I whip out my bowl and fill it up from my plate. I eat from my bowl..NOT the restaurant plate.

My bowl is a DIP bowl that was purchased from Crate and Barrel. Very small and inexpensive. I like small purses and it fits in it fine!
