good call.  I would dump on that amount of sugar normally, although I have had a glass of milk with no problem.  Now I'm confused.  Hmmmm...

Many people who will dump on double digits of refined sugar will not dump on the same amount of sugar from milk products or fruit, so you have to consider the type of sugar and know how your body reacts.

The powdered milk is good!  I've had it since right after hospital. The GNC powder is disgusting!!  I returned mine. On the other hand, the GNC Orange cream (or something like that!) protein shakes are delish!!  I exchanged the nasty powder for them :-)

I mix the protein powder, hot chocolate mix, and around 1/4 c of milk in the drink blender first - it comes out a little thick but all the powders are mixed well.  Then I pour it into a mug and add the boiling water.  It's my favorite before bed treat.

I don't use the unflavored protein powders in my morning hot chocolate.  The SF hot chocolate mixes I tried don't have a strong enough flavor to mask the flavor of the additional protein.

Instead, I add either Unjury Chocolate Splendor protein powder (be warned that some chocolate protein powders have a flavor that does NOT go well with the flavor of the hot chocolate mix!) or mix half chocolate protein powder and half vanilla protein powder.

As already mentioned, don't add protein powder to already hot water as it will clump or even completely "curdle" and become completely undrinkable.  Add it to warm liquid and then slowly heat.  I microwave for 15 seconds at a time and stir in between.  I also find that the Unjury powder mixes better than some other brands.

thanks...I remember when hot chocolate was simple to make!  But now I at least know what to do.

Also remember that "unflavored" does NOT mean "tasteless"!!   You really can only add it to something that has a strong flavor!  I'd try adding some chocolate protein powder to the Hot Choco - using the mixing tricks you've seen here.

I definitely learned that the hard way!  Thanks!
