Question, PCP and Labs
I think your PCP knows she can order labs. It sounds like she just doesn't want to.
I just went to my PCP with a list of labs and said "It's time to get my labs for my gastric bypass. Can you order these for me please?" and he did.

I have went to my PCP before and asked her about getting some labs done to make sure I don't have any deficiency because if I do I would like to correct it. My PCP does not want to order labs because she said she does not have anything to do my with my Surgery. My PCP said I have to go to my Surgeon for labs because she prescribes my Vitamins. I told her they are not prescribed just that I have to take and so does everyone else. She said my Surgeon tells me to take them so it's up to her to order any labs relating to my surgery. How do I get her to understand she can order them to? What do you say to your Dr to get them to order labs?
I think she is trying to tell you nicely that she doesn't want to be involved in. Your care as it pertains to your WLS. I would find a new pcp personally.
I see an endocrinologist for under-active thyroid. He gladly ordered every lab I asked for since I only see my surgeon at 3 weeks post op and not again until 6 months!

How often are you going to continue to see your surgeon once you are a year out, though... or 5 years out... or 15 years out? Most of teh time they only want to see you once a year.
Does your surgeon send a copy of your labs (or do you take a copy) to your PCP? If not, you should. Your PCP needs to at least be aware of what your nutritional status so (s)he can properly diagnose other issues that might be related.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
You ask them.
