snack ideas?
My snack go-tos are:
Light and Fit Greek yogurt with a tablespoon of sliced almonds to give it some heft
Boar's head deli turkey (2 oz) with a slice of pepperjack cheese
Laughing Cow light cheese wedge with 3 34 degree crackers
Tuna fish made with light mayo and diced onion (I usually have this in the fridge)
Kay's Naturals jalapeño honey mustard twists (from amazon)
A link of chicken sausage (from Trader Joe's or Costco) - I aim for 110 calories per link (some have close to 200)
Whatever is leftover from dinner (salmon, chicken, ground turkey, etc.)
A one ounce chunk of cheese
I have found that I can eat very large portions of chips/crackers/popcorn...so they are not good snacks for me. When I stick to my plan and eat dense protein, I am full with 3 oz of food.
For me, the key is having a digital scale in my kitchen and weighing out my portions. Even at over a year out, I am not good at estimating ounces of food.
You're right, weighing portions is critical. Once you start eyeballing, your portion sizes get twice as big.

I'm eating my snack right now: turkey pepperoni and a Babybel light. It's 120 calories and 15 grams of protein. Plus it's cheese and pepperoni.

Very few things have no carbs but I stay pretty low for the most part. Fruit, milk, oats I rarely worry too much about... lots of bang for the buck as long as there is moderation.
Cheese, cold cut (low sodium, aim for nitrate free) roll-up I like to do this with them: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2014/06/5-thi ngs-to-do-with-cold-cuts.html
Greek yogurt dip (savory or sweet) with apples (powdered peanut butter in yogurt is yummy) or cucumbers http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2014/06/a-do zen-protein-packed-and-portable.html
are probably my biggest go-to's.
