I've made it a week! I feel a little better everyday, but honestly, I thought it would be much worse than it was. I'm getting my fluid and protein in, and my first post op surgeon visit is tues. The ONLY issue I am having is the ecig cravings. I'm fighting them but it's So hard. I know cigarette and 2nd hand cigarette smoke can cause ulcers, but there is nothing about ecigs. Argh... help me fight!! I need the support

I am an ex smoker,  so I understand what you're going through.

Pick up some nicotine patches to get you through the worst of the withdrawal. You really don't know what chemicals they put into the e-cigarettes, so you should definitely avoid while healing up.

Thank you for being so kind. I appreciate that greatly! I will try the patches :)

No!!! Ne e-cigs or patches. The part that causes ulcers and otherwise interferes with healing is the nicotine. If you can find an e-cig without nicotine, you might be ok. It's the nicotine withdrawal that's causing the cravings, but it's also the nicotine that's dangerous.

Oh, I didn't know that the nicotine itself causes ulcers.  Makes sense though,  I have had ulcers, but haven't had one since I quit smoking.  I had H Pylori that was treated as well,  so I thought it was just wiping that out that stopped the ulcers.  Thanks Grim.

Hi DebGG,

I'm so glad you're doing well.  Hang in there.  I've heard that nicotine leaves your system in 3 days, so your physical nicotine cravings should quit after 3 days off nicotine.  After that it's habit cravings.  I understand because I was a smoker for many years and then chewed nicotine gum for like 10 years!  I finally quit the nicotine gum a couple years ago.  You can do it!  Hugs!  Karen  :)

Thanks Karen. So far I'm hanging in there I think it's a boredom thing. I find something to do and that will take my mind off it for a while. Thanks again!!!
