Hahahaha I am old... I just realized I posted this on the main board. Oy.

Happy Photo Friday! Post 'em if you have 'em! No theme--just whatever you want to share today! My pic is of the spring flowers that are finally in bloom at the house :)

My schools are all closed today, but I hired a professional painter to come and do a huge painting project at one of my schools, so I am going to supervise today. The walls are going from industrial pea green to bright white, with turquoise and orange accents (our colors), plus he is scraping off all of the nasty peeling paint around the metal door frames and painting that a bright navy. I think it is going to look amazing! While I am there all week, I am also hoping to do a bunch of other projects to brighten up the space. I spent $278 at Target and IKEA yesterday on little accents. Clearly this the the most fun part of my job :)

QOTD: Sorry in advance for this, but... Cake or Pie? Normally I'd choose a fruit pie over cake, but last night after the gym, (yes, I went!) I had the most intense urge for a chocolate frosted cupcake that I have had in years. It passed, thankfully!

Morning!! No photo from me today. My hostas and stargazers are sprouting. I'm glad I did my yard work last weekend.

Qotd: I don't understand why I even have to choose. I want both. But pie is definitely more of a seasonal thing to me, cake is universal. Mmmm... cake.

My sister is coming over today: yay! We'll bake, go bowling with the kids and giggle like a bunch of school girls! I haven't thought out plans beyond today- but I anticipate a lot of nothing.

I can't come up with any pictures now, but I might re-post later if I come up with one.

I'm really tired today so I might call it an early day. I hate to use up my leave, but I just can't get going this morning.

QOTD: I've usually liked pies and cobblers more than cake because I like the fruit. But give me a big piece of carrot cake with pineapple and walnuts and it's an easy choice. Well...it was.

Breakfast: chicken salad

Snack: Fuzzy navel protein shake

Lunch: salmon burger

Snack: cottage cheese with homemade applesauce

Dinner: crab cake with green beans

Exercise: long walk. The weather's too nice for the treadmill.

QOTD: cake! Though I'm an accomplished baker of both cake and pie. I always make my pie crust and frosting from scratch. I've broken from family tradition in the past few years in making a butter crust. My mom and her mom both swore by crisco. But I felt the need to take a stand against hydrogenated oil in my homemade baked goods.

I woke up after interval training started, so I'm not going to that. I've been so tired lately I didn't set my alarm this morning. I have the day off from work for packing, so I think I may just try to focus on that instead of going to the 8 am class. It's a fine line between fitness and procrastination for me.

Plan:
Breakfast 1: coffee with premier protein
Breakfast 2: cottage cheese
Lunch: marinated baked tofu
Snack: yogurt with protein powder and sugar free pudding mix
Dinner: 1/4 cup fake chicken crack and 1/4 cup eggface broccoli casserole(must not waste leftovers!)

Totals:
Calories 653/ carbs 31/ protein 88
Need 2 extra grams protein with no calories. Too bad that's impossible.

Here's a pic of my cat stealth snuggling my dog. I know for a fact she snuck over there while he was dead asleep. He's a little scared of her and won't sleep on the dog bed if she gets there first...

LOVE to bake and would love to learn more also.

I've made the frosting both ways. I grew up in deep south so crisco was the bomb.

Do you pop your cooked cakes in freezer or is that a no no? I've heard it both ways!

I always just cool the cakes at room temperature on a cooling rack.

Love your picture. Our boxer Lily will snuggle with our two cats but sometimes the female cat,Leah, gets friendly than Lily likes. Looks like they are both resting peacefully!
