haha bit rich for me at 450$ canadian - I am sticking to my modulars - I am hoping for a January release of something new!

referred Jan 2016 intake May 2016 left programme returned June 2017 final pre-sx class Oct 2017 surgeon appt Oct 2017

Opti Wt Nov 4/17 226 lbs BMI 45 Sx Wt 212 lbs RNY surgery Nov 23/17 M1 -18 M2-9 M3-10 M4-8 M5-6 M6-7 M7-6 M8-3 M9-1(so far) Down to within one pound of my goal and 99 lbs down from my highest weight. I was not a fast loser but who cares as long as you get there! I know the newbies check the trackers and the signatures so although I kind of lost track of how the rest of the weight came off, you should know that it was not fast and furious but it was slow and steady!

current BMI 24.7 that, my friends, is NORMAL!!! Strong is the new pretty!

I've played drums since the age of 4, and I've done it now for almost 39 years. It's a wonderful stress reliever, and quite a workout at 600 calories an hour burned. It takes practice, discipline, and patience to become good at it. I enjoy teaching it too 5 great kids. They are my drum army, my minions and we have a lot of fun.

It's also a great way to distract myself if I need to avoid temptation. :)

I've always wanted to learn how to play drums. If I wanted to start teaching myself, what resources would you recommend? Any good beginner drum sets (also, I'm a college student So cheaper is better lol)?

that's a really good theory book, and YouTube Drumeo. Jared Falk is great. For a drum set, it's usually better to go with a used 5-drum kit from the classifieds than spend the same amount on a new entry level kit. Its older but for the depreciated value you're getting a better quality drum shell. For entry level, a $350 Westbury kit with a pair of hi hats (the two left foot- controlled cymbals that clap together), a ride cymbal and 1 crash cymbal will get u going. If you can swing it, a set of Pearl Exports or Tama Rockstar are incredible drums. Sabian B8Pro or Zildjian ZBT cymbals are great to start on. I'd stay clear of certain drum brands (Trak, CB) and generic unbranded cymbals because they're just not a good quality, and if you decide 6 months or a year from now that it's not for you, a better quality setup is easier to sell. Really low end stuff sits forever.

Remember, no matter where you go.......there you are.

I'm in a knitting group, a book club, I hike a lot with friends, kayak, walk with my dog, love to cook, volunteer, go to the movies, and I just signed up for an oil painting class in the new year. Start saying yes to every opportunity to do something not related to food. You'll be amazed at how much your world can open up.
