Great news on the A1C! Even more than the weight, getting out from the diabetes burden is so huge! Congrats!

That is wonderful news on your diabetes control.
The fruit bitter melon will help lower the indicators of diabetes AND help with hypoglycemic attacks should anyone be having those...as well.. from my experience. it comes in a capsule and is taken only half the time, either every other day or 15 days a month...inexpensive.I have used it intermittently 2 months, on schedule of 15 on and 15 days off, x 2. skip a month-6 weeks and repeat..- for more than 3 years....I was on schedule per my doc to be insulin dependent by age 30... I have missed that prediction by almost 30 years now by controlling blood sugars. My surgery was a part of that. getting up with a sugar of 30-40 on a daily basis is not fun..even worse when a sugar of 100 triggers another drop...kinda necessitates eating. That is where I was and am not now....thanks to an early by-pass and other surgery procedures that is NOT done now.
I wear a plain watch., have since teen.simple sweep second hand - el cheapo... now have a terrible(LOL) problem and have to buy one with a childrens band! I refuse to track via electronic measures...I have enough tracking devises....and refuse to add. to each his/her own. my diet is tracked using old fashioned pen, paper and food scales.
My breakfast is 3 small poached eggs and a single ADA serving of toast...with coffee and one ounce of lactose free whole milk.
A late lunch, 2-3 pm, will be a soup made from 3 oz beef/pressure cooked and diced. and 2-3 oz. total of tomatoes, onion powder, celery powder, garlic, carrots,(few slices) and string beans. in beef cooking broth.
Supper will be late, after 7, high protein, undetermined .. but.probably beef roast.. a few, 3, plain saltine crackers.
My daughter called about the Toronto tragedy. Just devastating. My heart goes out to all those families who were affected.
QOTD: Yes, I am a dinosaur who wears a watch though I often go most of the day without one since I retired. I ALWAYS relied on one and it is essentially a piece of jewelry for me. If I am putting on earrings and a necklace, I put on my watch. I even went to the jeweler to have batteries put into my two dress watches so I could decide which one to wear to my reunion the other night.
2 Years post-op
Always lots of coffee...
B: Eggs scrambled with cottage cheese and Canadian bacon
L: Tuna with pickles and cottage cheese
D: Shrimp
S: mozzarella/prosciutto sticks, yogurt

Oh Daisy, when I saw about the Toronto incident in the news, I thought of you. It is really scary when things like that happen so close to home. Take a deep breath and be good to yourself...no not chocolate!
Good morning folks! I missed my walk yesterday because I fell asleep instead of just resting for a few minutes. Guess my body needed it. I did go to Aqua Zumba in the evening though. I usually only go on Saturdays because the classes during the week are often really full but decided to go anyway. I'll get in a few more classes in the next 3 weeks before surgery. Today it is supposed to rain so I'm not sure whether I will get in my long walk at lunch. I may just walk to halls and 8 flights of stairs in my office building. Boring, but also good exercise.
QOTD: I live by my watch. I have an Ironman Expedition digital watch that I use for timing even though I also have a Fitbit. I feel completely out of it without my watch on.
Menu:
Breakfast: scrambled egg, 2 oz chicken
Snack: Cappuccino protein shake, baby carrots, almonds
Lunch: fish, salad
Snack: turkey breast, apple, maybe another protein shake
Dinner: beef, green beans
Exercise: several short walks, maybe some evening swimming

I, too, thought of you when I read about the tragedy in Toronto yesterday. We hear about tragedies like that so often now that it almost makes me afraid to go anywhere.
We're taking one of the cats to the vet this morning for his annual check-up - then off to work. I'm going to go to yoga tonight - it's been way too long! I also want to decide on one or two more plastic surgeons to do consults with. I really wish there was someone in town who does mostly body contouring for massive weight loss patients, but there really isn't. Boo. So we'll probably be heading back to Chicago..(or Minneapolis..)
accountability was excellent yesterday, but weight was up 0.2 lbs. I'm sure it's jus****er, but that was not a good start to my day. I was expecting to see a slight loss!
QOTD: I wore a watch for years and then stopped for about two years, but I got a Fitbit about 18 months ago and have been using that as my watch (well, among other things - I also like the sleep tracker on it). I feel lost without it. I usually have my phone with me, but it's much easier to just glance at a watch (err...my Fitbit).
2 years 10 months out:
B: homemade Greek yogurt with homemade cherry/cranberry sauce
MS: coffee with half & half, protein/Miralax chocolate latte shake
L: cottage cheese
AS: 2 T peanut butter with celery sticks, or a L&F yogurt
D: pulled pork, Asian-style slaw
ex: yoga!
I'm taking our old (almost 17) chihuahua Chiquita to the vet today. She seems to have perked up a lot since Justice arrived, but she looked really old and rickety when we got home last week. It will be interesting to see what the vet thinks (I'm guessing blood work to check kidney function will be needed).
