Hello Weekenders!!!

It's a long weekend in most of Canada. is it in the states too?

I'm pretty sure I'm trying to cram too much into my day today... we'll see how successful I am... today is party prep for my sisters surprise 30th birthday tomorrow. Then Monday I think will be a nothing day. Can't. Wait. Hahaha

qotd: there seem to be a few posts lately about people struggling or coming back and sharing their regain story.

what tools or habits or behaviours do think are most important in your ability to succeed? (also a question for another day: what is success..)

I'll be two years out next month, so I'm still a newbie. But so far, For me, it's reading and posting here. I might not post every day, but just logging in each morning is part of my mindfulness routine. Warning. This is going to sound new agey hahaha

but seriously, taking a few minutes each morning to reflect on how far I have come, and what my goals going forward are, is super helpful.

Also, as someone who had over 200 pound of excess weight to lose, setting small goals was the way to go for me. Eating an extra 500 calories when your end goal is literally years away, might not seem to be that big of a deal.

But, when your next 5lb goal is only 3 away, those calories matter, big time!

menu:

B:coffee and premier

L: tbd if I'm home or running errands

D: a beautiful steak I bought at the butchers last night, but hubby fell asleep and so I just had leftovers on my own Haha

have a good one!

Happy Saturday! I'm up early and having coffee then headed to the airport, super early flights always seem like a good idea when you book them, less so when you get up at the butt crack of dawn!

QOTD - I'm just under 6 months PO so really what helps me right now is tracking and paying attention!! I am on two days in a row of feeling in control, so definitely one of the people finding August off to a rocky start..but it's getting better!

B - coffee + Premiere

S - parmesan cheese

L - probably chicken ricotta meatballs at Alamo (Meeting some friends to see Christopher Robin)

D - fajita meat (fajitas are on the menu at game night)

Have a great saturday everyone! Hope you all get to do something fun and relaxing!

That's great! Building on a streak is something I find helpful too. I.e. I did x two days in a row, can I go three, then four etc. soon you find maintaining the streak becomes a goal in and of itself!

Good Morning,

QOTD: I'm just over 7 months out so I am a total newbie. Best piece of advice is not to wander back to old habits. Since I am so new I don't have much experience with it but there have been times I catch myself starting to slide into old behaviors. I noticed this more this summer because I haven't been tracking on MFP. I should, I have more time to track every bite, lick and taste in the summer but I got lazy. Back to tracking and being more accountable to myself!

B: PP chocolate

L: cheddar cheese and berries

D: Leftover turkey meatloaf with a small salad

We are camping again this weekend. I already took the dog out for his morning walk, I am sure there will be more walking and exploring today.

I spoke with Staci at my surgeon's office yesterday and voiced my concerns about the NP visit. I told her we wouldn't be going back to the NP and would only see Dr. Halbert for any follow up needs. She apologized for our bad visit (not her fault at all) and assured me the NP couldn't change our one year appointment. Sigh of relief.

Happy Saturday!

You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!

Good news on the one year appt! Did she offer any options on the dizziness/lightheadedness/fatigue since "I don't know what to tell you" is not the most helpful? Have fun camping!

It is so easy to fall back into old habits, even super early out. I'm glad to hear you were able to speak with someone at your surgeons office about that unacceptable appointment. Here's to hoping you don't have to interact with that NP again.

Yes to avoiding old habits! A big one for me after surgery, I had a hard rule about not eating in the car, unless on a long road trip. No in town eating. But I realized I had started doing that again, when running errands. A protein bar here, Starbucks egg bites there. I stopped again, but I literally don't know when I had fallen back into that habit!

Good Morning

QOTD: I also always set small goals along the way, gave me something to strive for. I also try and reflect on how far Ive come especially when I start to be hard on myself. At 4 years out- face it you can eat ALL the food- so focusing on success habits at home helps. Still use smaller plates and silverware, weigh and measure protein and calorie dense items... still try and get plenty of protein and water in.

B: latte, overnight oats w/protein powder

L: bbq chicken pizza on low carb pita, carrots

D: have a bbq to go to but if it's raining and I don't go....Chicken and veggies TBD

still haven't made the eggplant sitting on my counter, so that could happen too.

S: protein powder, Greek yogurt, nectarine

I still use my baby spoon and my 8 oz ramekin to eat my morning yogurt - plus a lot of other things as well. I LOVE my baby spoon and ramekin and have been known to pack them when going on trips!
