I love the way new paint looks and feels. Have to hire someone now but used to do my own. Back in the 80s I used to do a lot of wallpaper too.. Good luck with that weather forecasf. Sounds brutal.

I woke up in the middle of the h night which at burst of energy av almost felt like electricity going through my body. Then fell asleep until almost 8. My sister was driving to pick me up and called to tell me her car was just hit NY a deer. She is ok but the car is not. Currently sitting off the highway waiting for state patrol.

She was driving a 2018 Ford Fusion that I sold to her last year. It has never had as much as a scratch on it. No longer pristine. Definitly changes our day. You make plans but never know exactly what will happen in life.

Sorry you did not get your goat but sounds like weekend was great. We have been having nice sunny days but it is going back to 50s on Wednesday. The sunshine was great last week. Summer is on its way and I can't wait.

  • Years ago there was a cult who had a place in West Virginia they called the Palace of Gold. They only ate vegetables but kept a cow for milk and butter. The cow was always decorated with flowers. It was their sacred cow and very pampered. They also had an elephant and people took rides on it.

I can't remember if there was a camel. If you joined you had to give them all your assets and they shared everything. They collected money by asking for donations at airports. They served food there but my husband was afraid to try it. It seemed like a peaceful quiet life but there was corrupt people running it and it all fell apart after a few years. I thought the pet cow was cute.

My sixties was when I felt my youngest and most carefree. I retired and when out with friends every day and most nights. We did lots of dancing and took lots of trips. I remember saying 61 felt like 16. I feel my age more now at 77 but as long as I eat well and get rest and exercise I enjoy my time and find lots to keep me busy. Our pool is open and heated so hopefully I can get enough hot wether next week to get some pool time in.

We got a huge rat in our basement when I was about 12. There was bags of cornmeal down there and it was eating that. I was in the basement one night and saw it. My father used poison and got it but I am still afraid of that old basement, when I was first married we had a mouse get in. I imagined it was a huge rat and was afraid to sleep that night.

It was in a trap in the morning and I saw how tiny it was. After that I got a cat and felt safer. Snakes are scary too.

Your dinner is going to be fabulous. I know our Sams Club has rainbow carrots but haven't seen them anywhere else. Enjoy Mothers Day.

I always loved mowing and taking care of landscape, flowers and garden. Can't do it anymore and miss it.

I would get a pancreas that works. Diabetes causes so many other problems as I get older. A transplant is possible but not at my age.

I always do my bloodwork and we make adjustments based on that. I feel like a chemistry experiment sometimes. I do get more blood work if I feel more tired or if something is not right. Hope everything goes well with the inventory and you feel good soon. You have really stepped up to keep this thread going and it is very appreciated.

One of my cousins is a vet and also has horses. She used to throw a big Kentucky Derby party every year. We dressed up with great hats and had mint julips and other traditional foods. At least 100 people would come. I enjoy watching it. I was just reading that every horse running this year is related to Secretatariat.

I used to stock up when I found a good deal. I know the vacuum sealer really kept things in good shape. Always made my own sauces and froze them. Also had fruit for pies and frozen peppers and lots of meats.

My sister got new chickens about a month ago. This week one was missing. She thought a raccoon but could not see anywhere it could get in. Next morning another one was gone. She looked and finally found them under a new feeder. They are all fine now so that was a relief.

I have known a few hoarders. They tell you they paid good money for stuff and can't get rid of it. My brother's wife was a hoarder and he made her keep her hoard in their basement. After she passed away it took him more than a year to clean it out.

My mother went to garage sales and bought things she did not need. At one point she had a bedroom that was too cluttered to open the door. It was seasonal decorations. Christmas, Halloween, Spring, Fall, Winter, flowers, and all kinds of things. We finally put it all in the tra****ry to use the get rid of one thing when I buy something new. Clutter makes me so nervous. I don't want to leave a mess for others to deal with.

When I moved a few years ago I got rid of a lot of my old knives and bought a Henckels set with built in sharpeners in the knife block. It has worked out great for me. If I did a lot of cooking now I would definitely consider the Japanese knives.

I used wood cutting boards for years, then went to glass. Then someone told me that plastic was better for the knives, so now use plastic. Titanium does sound interesting. I use small cutting boards now because most meals are just for myself. I wash in dish soap and ho****er and then run them through the dishwasher.

I turn 77 today. It has been a fast and interesting ride. I feel like I accomplished everything I set out to do and no longer have much on my bucket list. Hawaii was one of the things I never did and now the plane ride there would feel overly stressful. But I think everything else on the list that I made 30 some years ago is crossed off and over.

It is strange in some ways to just be retired and not have any obligations or pressure on me. The term bucket list had not come into play then. I made a notebook with pictures of the things I wanted to do and then went through and figured out how to do them. I have always been a planner and always prided myself on finishing anything I start.

It is strange to have no goals, but sort of a welcome relief too. I can't handle cake anymore, but will have a bowl of ice cream later to celebrate.

I love Laz-y-boy furniture and have had a lot of it. I have a couch and matching love seat with recliners that are push button. I was considering living with my sister who thinks furniture should be formal and hates recliners. I was thinking I would be like the father on Fraiser who moved into his son's fancy living room with his comfortable old brown recliner. I am glad most of you like recliners and comfortable furniture.

I had a hard time getting on here today. The site kept going out. 4:45 is really a dedicated employee. I used to start early but worked from home when it was that early so just went from bed to the computer.

I have never done anything extreme although I did think about white water rafting but never ended up going. I wanted to bungee jump off a bridge in West Virginia one time that was really high but when I got there I chickened out.

I did some parachute jumps but tandem and ended up messing up my back with a bad landing. My days of anthing extrem are over. I admire anyone who does. The four hour ride sounds great.

I bought a Sleep Number bed back in the nineties. They were brand new and called Select Comfort back then. I also had a Temperpedic bed. Sleep Number is ideal now because you can get it with heat and cooling and adjustable. But about $8,000 for the one I want so have been putting it off but will probably get one sometime soon. Once you get used to those type of beds you would never want a traditional mattress. You spend approximately 1/3 of your life in bed and it worth it to have the mattress that keeps you the most comfortable. We don't think twice about the price of a car and a mattress can be more important to our life than a car.

I lived on protein powders the first few years. I wore out three Magic Bullets which was the popular personal blender back then. I also had an ice cream maker and made tons of protein ice creams. And made high protein muffins and cookies out of flaxseed. I have some protein powder in the house but rarely use it now. Some of the premixed shakes are really good and I keep some in the refrigerator in case I want something quick and easy.
