Why is 400lb+ Surgery Success still "Invisible" in the Media?"I?m pre-op, starting at 488 lbs with a goal of 190. As I look for inspiration, I?ve noticed that People Magazine?s 'Half Their Size' issue almost exclusively features 'diet and exercise' stories

Happy Thursday, everyone! I hope you're crushing your day and reaching your goals.
Today is going well; I'm off work but busy with research. I had a bit of a rough eating day yesterday (that Hardee's Monster Burger got me!), but that's okay--time to get back on track and do better today. I'm hoping to catch the USA Women's Hockey team in the Winter Olympics later!
Today's Menu:
Breakfast: Oatmeal Bowl
Lunch: Power Salad
Dinner: Stir-Fry
Quote of the Day: > "Talent is a gift, but you can only succeed with hard work." -- Jean Béliveau

Good morning, everyone! I hope you all crush your day today. My plans involve decorating my WNBA "Woman Cave," taking the kids to basketball practice, and hopefully squeezing in a quick workout. I'm also doing research on which weight loss surgery is the best tool for me and looking for a Bariatric Psychologist.
Today's Menu:
Breakfast: Savory "Everything" Oatmeal
Lunch: Red Lentil & Sweet Potato Dal
Dinner: "Lightened Up" Shepherd's Pie
QOTD: My plans for February are to find a bariatric surgeon, cook more healthy recipes, stop drinking, attend more of my kids' basketball games, and be an even better Mom.

What should I expect during the Evaluation at 400+ lbs? I have a lot of grit, but I want to be prepared. Did they focus more on your food history or your future goals

I I want to be active like I was when I was playing high school basketball, but my joints hurt at this weight. What were the first 'exercises' you did when you were still over 400 lbs?

Good Friday, everyone! I hope your morning started better than mine. My sister and I were on our way to Sally Beauty to get supplies and pink dye for my mohawk when I slipped and fell on a patch of ice in my driveway. Luckily, I wasn't' hurt too badly just a little embarrassed!
The plan is still on: I'm doing my sister's hair today, and I'll be dyeing mine either today or tomorrow. Then, tomorrow, I'm taking the kids to a sports card show!
Todays Menu
Breakfast: Overnight Berry & Greek Yogurt Parfaits
Lunch: Rainbow Pasta Salad
Dinner: Sheet Pan Lemon-Herb Chicken & Veggies
QOTD: I definitely do use spices and herbs when cooking to add flavor

I'm currently at 488 lbs, and I'm looking for anyone else in the 400 plus lbs category. Being this close to 500 is a wake-up call I can't ignore anymore.

"Happy Thursday, everyone! I hope you are all doing well and having a productive day. I'm spending my day staying warm, catching up on housework, and heading to the store. I'm also doing some deep dive research into which weight loss surgery options would be the best fit for my health goals.
Today's Menu:
Breakfast: Savory Cottage Cheese Bowl
Lunch: Mediterranean Chicken Quinoa Salad
Dinner: Turkey Chili

For those who had a high starting weight: How did you handle the 'embarrassment' of starting slow? I want to run the basketball court one day, but I'm starting with baby steps."

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday! I'm new to Obesity Help and a little nervous to be starting my journey, but I've got to do this!
Today's Menu:
Breakfast: Savory Oatmeal with a Soft-Boiled Egg
Lunch: Open-Faced Turkey & Apple Melts
Dinner: Slow-Cooked Beef & Barley Stew
I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!"
