Airplane crashed into Building in Austin !!!

OMG..just heard on the news that a plane just crashed into a building in North Austin. They said it is a building near the FBI headquarters there. Hope it wasn't terrorist !!! We need to pray for the people that were taken to the hospital. 2 so far and one person unaccounted for.

Last news report (I am of course, glued to the news) was that a man set his house on fire, went to Georgetown (which is about 30 minutes from where his house was), stole the plane, and then flew it into the building. I doubt it was a terrorist attach. More likely it was an act of revenge committed by an insane person. FDA has all ready gone to Georgetown to the small airport there to interview them
I do not see though, how no one besides the pilot could not have died - the building is virtually destroyed.
And for some reason it is going to impact, the news said, Facebook.

WOW Thanks for the update. I had only known what my sister told me when I was driving to my son's house to pick up his dog. People are so sick sometimes. Too bad that person had to destroy other people's lives in the process of destroying his own.

Appears now - based on what I can figure from his suicide note that was posted was that the man flying the plane had failed to pay income taxes for many years. There is some type of group (not sure of the time) *****fuse to pay taxes saying that the tax code constitutes taxation w/o representation. So, IRS figured it out. He has, it appears, been fighting with the IRS for years.
Sad thing is he has a wife and child, but since he burned down their home - no insurance and since he committed suicide - no insurance.

But, it was not a terroist act. It was the act of a deranged man who for some reason felt no other way out.

That is a very sad situation. I just don't get people doing things like this. He must have been mentally ill to do that to the family that he loved.

I don't know that he was "deranged" .. Some parts of his last statement were pretty clear, cogent and even worthy of some sympathy ..

I think MANY citizens are growing increasingly upset at our taxation system, and this may be just one of the first in many such "serious" actions in an attempt to get change ..

Heck, at this rate, one has to wonder if we will even have S.S. to take care of us when the time comes ..

What else will we have but our savings to live off of then, when we are not able to physically work anymore? Then there are the health care needs and costs of the uninsured .. It takes substantial personal funds for those citizens to pay those bills and stay healthy ..

If Texas (and FL and several other states) can get by w/o an individual income tax, why can't the federal gov?

Or, at least why not a flat 10% tax, if one is truly necessary? It's good enough for the Almighty ..

If you are upset with " the system", as that man was..then go kill YOURSELF..but don't take innocent people with you and destroy a building that MY tax dollars pay for.

I pay as much in taxes as I bring home, and I have yet to plot to kill anyone over it. I have faith in God that, when the time comes, my needs will be met, in whatever means necessary. My lawyer and children are aware of my wishes.

I have no fear.

Well, a good point there, Gina .. I was wondering this a.m. why he didn't choose to fly into the building at night instead, when likely there would be (less) innocent people that might get hurt - if he was really mad at the system and not someone in particular - but it sounds now like he kinda went off in the heat of a personal tangent with his wife ..

If that turns out to be true, then I wonder why she didn't alert the authorities what he was planning after he left, but then again maybe she was as clueless as everyone else around him claims to have been ..

I know the building that wa**** by the plane and work about 5 miles away in a office with about 2 off duty Austin Fire fighters and two retired fire fighters. We were talking about as the events were unfolding. It was extremely lucky only two people lost their life to this mentally unbalanced individual who felt he needed vent his frustration on the innocent. The building held IRS offices for the employees benefits and apparently the individuals audit occured there. He wanted to blame his tax problems on the IRS instead of himself and the company that prepared his taxes. Initially we thought maybe it was a plane that was experiencing some kind of mechanical failure and was attemping the nearly impossible task of landing on the service road. I feel sorry for the mans wife and child both had the good sense to leave him and move to a motel a couple of days prior before he burned down their home and then flying his plane into the Echelon building. It is amazing that the injuries were as low as they were and the fact only to dead including the pilot. My heart goes out to the victims and everyone who is directly effected by the trouble man's mental impairment because their lives are forever changed by this insane act. God Bless them and their families.
