You know the saying....a year ago today my new life started. Funny how that really mean something on this day, how true it is.

I had my 1 yr checkup on Monday with Dr. Garth. He's very pleased with my progress this year, although he's still preaching lower protein and all plant proteins.  Don't think I'll every make that but I have cut way down on red meat and eat mostly fish, seafood and a little chicken. This stomach muscle 'thing' I have isn't a form of hernia like I thought, it's actually just weak stomach muscles from them being so stretched for so long. So it looks like lots of abdominal strengthening in my future...bleh!

My labs are all looking pretty good. My B vits are way off the chart so he said to drop one of the B-50 complex and only take the B-12 every other day. My iron is high and he said I could quit taking it and retest in 3 months but I don't think I'll do that. According to my records it's lower than it was at 6 months so I'm not going to stop it and go even lower. Still have to study up on the numbers and things but I don't think I'll be changing the iron.

While I was there I had a MedGem test done. I've been yo-yoing with the same 2 lbs since the end of June. Come to find out I'm not eating nearly enough. I need to increase my calories by 200 a day... that's harder for me than it sounds. The easiest is going to be to increase the 'good' fats... almonds, nuts, avocado's, full fat cheese, etc. It's not really a surprise. In fact I started increasing things about a week ago. It must be working because I got on the scale this morning and have lost 2lbs since Monday! 190.4lb is my lowest weight to date. Happy S'Day to me! I still have 40lbs to go, and I know they are going to be the hardest yet, but I'm ready!

Thanks to all of you for your love and support...I couldn't have done it without you. Special thanks to Sarah for...everything!

Congratulations on a great year!! You look terrific!!
I agree with the iron...I was good for the longest and then mine crashed and I had to have IV iron so I can attest to keep taking it until the number stays constant.

Congratulations on your surgiversary!!

Happy Surgiversary Deedles!  You've done a most fantastic job.  It's hard to believe it was just a little over a year ago that you had surgery and then came to the OH conference.  Hang in there!
