Please post bougie size & food capacity on message board
32fr bougie, not sure if oversewn or not.
My capacity still varies depending on the time of the month, if you know what I'm saying. I rarely weigh my food and when I do, it usually weighs less than I thought.
Anyway, for instance today I had one fried egg (cooked runny) with about 1 oz of canadian bacon (one small slice) and was full.
3/4 of a protein bar makes me full
1/2 cup of cottage cheese makes me full
But i can eat a lot of popcorn, french fries, slidery stuff.

Another key factor here is how far out post op people are.
I am 2.5 years post op
34F oversewn to a 32F
I can eat 3oz of dense protein and I'm stuffed, more than that and I want to hurl
I can eat maybe 5oz of soft proteins like refried beans
If I eat slowly, I'm talking an hour or more I can eat more.

I asked my surgeon to do mine as small as possible, if it was safe to do so...
I have a 30 F oversewn,which is the equivalent of a 28.
I don't measure my food, so I don't know how many ounces I can eat.
I have no food intolerance, no heart burn, no issues, I love eating. I eat like I ate when I was a child.
I can eat a fair amount because, being 6 ft tall, I have a very long stomach.
When I am eating out I can eat:
- 1 hotdog, and a handful of chips
- 1 small Hamburger
- 1 medium Burrito
- 2.5 pieces of pizza, very skinny, one topping
However, I don't make a habit of it. I eat well, but try not to over do it.
I am easily maintaining and happy to be able to eat like a small normal person.

32Fr, not oversewn. I can eat 3oz of dense protein and a few bites of veggies or salad. 1 to 1.5 slice of single topping, ultra thin crust pizza, 1/2 sandwich, 3 chicken mcnuggets when I'm feeling saucy, tons of chips, cookies, candies, 6-8oz of mushy type food like yogurt or mashed potatoes. I can eat around my sleeve fairly easily at this point. Alcohol (wine/mojitos) relax my sleeve tremendously, which only leads to increasing my capacity. I can eat super slow, chew food to mush and fit in a bit more. When I say cheat, I'm talking instead of eating 3-4 sushi roll slices, I can get get 4-5 with a little wine, or coffee pre-meal. Pasta and rice have become sliders therefore I do not eat them without protein first. If I stick to all the rules, I lose weight, and I'm maintaining because of my eating habits, and portions.

This came from another thread (are salads slider foods), but I wanted to repost it here because I learned that I was wrong about my protein capacity thanks to Brandilynn!

Like - I can eat 3 ounces of meat and be satisfied for up to 3ish or more hours.
I can eat the 3 ounces of meat IN A SALAD and I get hungry sooner.
Also, if I ate 3 ounces of meat FIRST and then tried to eat a salad after, I would not be comfortable shoving as much salad in my belly as I can get in there if I have the meat IN the salad.
Does that make sense?
So.. its not a slider food in that I feel NO restriction, but it *is* slidery in that it escorts my dense protien down MUCH FASTER than it would go alone, and I get hungry MUCH SOONER than I would if I just ate the dense protein alone.
So - yea, I am like you, in the ways of salad. Thank you for posting this. I've been looking everywhere for it. I wanted to read it again and could not remember which thread it was in. It made me realize that I didn't actually know my dense protein capacity because I've never eaten it alone. And, I didn't know how long it would keep me satisfied. I usually eat it with some veggie and I'm hungry again in 2 hours. So, maybe the protein is getting escorted out faster. So, I just got done eating protein all alone. I had crock pot shoulder pork. I was able to eat 2.5 ounces, then I started sneezing. nose running and my ears are plugged. Sneezing means I'm full and I had better not take another bite or there will be pain. Now, to see how long I am satiated. I thought my capacity was 3 ounces......wrong! It's 2.5 ounces.
I looked up the whole sneezing, running nose and hiccups after eating thing and here is what I learned. There in a sinus nerve that runs down to the top of your stomach (VAGUS NERVE). Once you are really full, that sinus nerve is activated, agitated...whatever you want to call it and your nose starts running, you sneeze, or you get hiccups...maybe all 3...LOL. I've noticed that "satisfied" is a runny nose. Sneezing means I'm totally full.
