Gosh.....you can eat only 2-3 ounces more than me.  That's not a huge difference.  I see you have had a lot of weight loss.  You are totally rocking that sleeve.  Even though my bougie was smaller, I have to use will power too.  I hope your journey is wonderful and that your weight loss is great!  I'm trying to copy Frisko.  He has not stretched his tummy out and he is more than a year out.  His secret is that he still eats just the capacity that he could eat at one month out.....now that's will power!  I hope I can be that disciplined.  (((((hugs)))))  I feel bad that my post made you bummed out.

The problem is regain.  The bigger sleeves have a much much higher regain than smaller sleeves.  They used to make sleeves bigger and due to regain, went to smaller bougies.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

I'm a 32, I don't think I was over-sewn.  I can eat no more than 3oz of dense protein, but more than that for non-dense stuff like soft cheese, chili, etc.  I'd say that I can eat 3/4 cup at the most of non-dense foods if I were really empty at the start.

No idea on bougie size or sewn stuff.. Just finished my lunch of 2 oz of chicken salad on a piece of toast. I was able to eat about 3/4 and gave rest to hubby. Breakfast was single egg, slice of cheese, and a piece of toast (like a sandwich)- also ate about 3/4 of it and gave rest to hubby. These are typical amounts..

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

GO TO  "MY OH" and then on the drop menu, click "message board", once there, you can permantly add the info to your messages along with your weight loss bar.

Does everyone else see my info cut off?  It all shows up on my computer.

Thanks...and I can see yours perfectly.  It said it had to be under 2 inches.  I never read that part before today.  Can you see mine, plus the weight loss bar?

I am a DSer, but will chime in, since we have sleeves too,,,

I have a 50f..  I  can eat a normal meal such as a 6 inch sub loaded with toppings or a double cheeseburger meal with a medium fry, 2 pieces of chicken and 1 side.

I malabsorb the fat, so I am very liberal with the fat and calories, but this should give you an idea of the volume for the 50f.

It should also give you an idea of how careful you should be to stay on track with your vsg diet.  I had restriction early out, but by about 6 months I could eat anything.  If I had a vsg, I would have had to have been more diligent about counting calories, or I would not have lost enough.  At some point, you will be counting on willpower and not restriction to keep the pounds off.

I also want to note, my DS surgery friends that had 38f did have more restriction early out, but now we can eat pretty much the same thing.  It seems to me that no matter where you start out, the sleeve is going to inevitably stretch.

Hope this helps.

Hi Lachelle,

What you say is not true. I am almost 3 years out, maintaining my weight, not dieting and I can only eat about 4-5 oz of solid with an ounce or two or salad. I have been at the same level of restriction for the last year and a half so. I could never eat a double burger and fries. I can eat a double burger, no bun and two or three french fries. I can also eat about 6 pieces of sushi. Last nite, I had a small salad and a slice of thin crust pizza and I was full. Then a small sliver of cake . Anyone can regain as a testament thats why they have the "Bites and Vites" on the DS board. Purely restrictive works very well for some people. MY BMI was 54 when I was banded and 40 when I was sleeved due to band slip.

Cool, glad it's working so well for you.

Whan you have the vsg with out the DS, is the sleeve created any differently to prevent stretching?  I have been interested in learning how the vsg alone is effective long term?

I am a support leader, and more and more people are turning to the vsg instead of band. I want to know how to educate them. on the vsg.
