When toCall your Doctor or go to the Emergancy Room!

Several people have reported that they can barely stand up, are having difficulty walking, and one is even bed bound.

Folks, if you are having anything even remotely like that, CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.  Do not wait till your next visit, do not sit around wondering what is going one, get in to see your doctor NOW!

If you can not eat, if you can not drink, if you are so weak you can barely move, GET MEDICAL HELP NOW!

If something really weird is going on with your body, pick up the phone and call your doctor.  They WANT to know if something abnormal is going on.

You will not be seen as a "complainer" if you call in and tell your doctor, "I haven't been able to keep anything down for 3 days now".

This board is not a substitute for your doctor, or for an emergency room.

You have to use some judgment here.  If you are having serious symptoms (whether related to your weight loss or not), get yourself medical care immediately!

There are lots of things that could cause you to feel abnormally weak, and none of them are healthy for you.  Not all of them are caused by your weight loss (believe it or not, you can still get very sick from other things, while losing weight).

The bottom line is, YOU are responsible for your overall health.  If something is going on that really worries you, then get a medical opinion as to whether or not it is serious.  It is much better to have 10 false alarms, than to ignore (or wait too long on) something that could kill you.

Amen!  I called several times and never once felt like a burden to my surgeon's office.  Better safe than sorry.

Great post OM.....

This board is NOT for asking for or receiving "Medical" advise !!!!

That is what your doctor/surgeon is for.....That is what you paid for.

Another one..... Don't come here 3 days post op and ask what your supposed to eat and when to advance to the next food. That is what your surgeon is supposed to provide you..... instructions!
All your gonna get is a sample of varied programs not necessarily yours.

Say you buy a new TV...... does it come with instructions??? Should your new tummy come with instructions!

New tummy instructions would be amazing..

I picture there being a section titled something like, "Do Not Put This In Me Or This Will Happen"

That'd be great!! I'll put that on my "When I Rule The World" list of things to occur!

Yes, perfect advice

and Frisco, my new tummy did come with an owner's manual--no kidding. My surgeon and NUT gave me a binder and it was complete on what to do, and when to do, and logs, etc.

I agree!
Thank you for posting, all newbies should read this. Somedays I just can't read the questions folks ask here.
I still take my Postoperative Weight Loss Manual to work with me everyday.
