does anyone have experience with being diagnosed with T 2 diabetes before surgery?  did it go away or what?

I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes 2 years before surgery, and was on Metformin to treat it.  I have been off my med's since the day of surgery, and my A1C score is perfect now!

Diagnosed 2-3 years (I forget) before surgery; controlled with Actos and Byetta; stopped all meds the day before surgery and never went back on; last A1C reading was 5.4.

I was, I started out w/ a a1c of 8 and my fasting was over 200. I started out on metformin 500 mg 2 times a day, then they upped it to 1000 mg 2 times a day. I had the surgery 2/1/10, since then my a1c is now a 4.9 and my fasting sugars are around 90...

yep...type 2 diabetic for 10 years pre-op. On 3 meds with an A1C of 9.9 pre-op. last A1C 5 off all meds. With that being siad, you have to follow a low carb diet (at least processed carbs). If I eat crap my blood sugar will still go up
