1,408 calories of office snacks!

That's what I estimate I DIDN'T have today at my office. I love my sleeve!

It was a trifecta of events today - 2 birthdays, a baby shower, and leftovers from a student event (middle eastern food - yum!). I was thinking tonight while I was at the gym what an amazing thing it is that I was able to resist all of this food. Sure, I had to talk myself out of some of it, but I'm still proud of myself. I may slip up some times and have some foods that aren't exactly on plan, but I'm nowhere near what I used to consume. In addition to my normal breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is a realistic look at what I would have consumed at the office today pre-sleeve:

1/2 maple donut (would feel self-conscious so would only have 1/2) 175
3 powdered sugar mini donuts (made by the bakery where my mom works - support the business!)
198
Mini cupcake (not the regular one...I'm dieting after all!) 180
½ cup ice cream (love me some cake & ice cream!) 150
Punch (mmm...sugar water...) 115
Sherbet (in punch) 105
Frosted cookie (with sprinkles! so cute!) 180
3 mini snickers (from dreaded office candy jar. I would feel guilty for all other food eaten. This would be a "what the hell...this day is shot anyway!" eat) 120
Hummus (this is healthy, right?) 100
1/2 pita (1/2 = 1/2 the carbs!) 85
INSANELY HIGH CALORIC TOTAL: 1408

I think it's good to remind ourselves sometimes of how far we've come...

LOL....great post. Be proud of yourself.
I thought to myself...heck pre-sleeve I managed an AM and PM team. Whatever we did for one we did for the other. That would have given me 2816 cals...you know I would have participated twice....to be fair to my employees.

Great job!!

You know, I should do more of this.  Really puts in in perspective, doesn't it?

Wow seeing it like that really does put it into perspective. Gee Wiz that is insane I have done that but of course never look at the calories just thought ok I will jus have 1/2 instead of whole. But all them 1/2's add up 2 lots of calories. Whats even more crazy is that in that list I dont see any meals so that is 1408 only on snack foods. Sounds so much like me. I havent had surgery yet, but I sure limited that list. But I still kinda want that stuff. I hope when I get this sleeve I will not even want that stuff as much as my head is telling me I do right now. Im still learning how to do this whole calorie thing. I should be getting my papers submitted to insurance hopefully next week. Wish me luck wit lots of prayers.

Oh, good luck! You should know within a few weeks. I know it seems like time goes by so S L O W L Y but I promise you it's worth the wait.

And yes - that is just "snack" foods. I'm sure I would have had a regular breakfast, gone to Chipotle for a burrito bowl, chips & guac, and then had a normal dinner too. It likely would have been a 3,000+ calorie day.
