Homemade broth is much better or even a can of chicken noodle soup just don't eat the chicken and noodles.   Can you have cream soups ? i was sent home on full liquids so i could,  sorry if you can't yet  :o) Jeani

I picked up a couple of soups from a chinese place and strained it. It was sooo good. One was a seafood with crab and stuff. It was nice to have a change from chicken and beef broth.

I hate bullion!  I'm with you son.  Get you a chicken, boil it in 2 quarts of water, throw in a couple of stalks of celery, half an onion, some garlic, oregano, thyme, sage and some salt and pepper.  Dont bother cutting anything up because you won't even eat it.  Cook it at a simmer until the chicken falls off the bone then strain it thru a seive.  Put it in the refriderator and when its cold skim off the fat then you can heat and eat the broth.  Put it in small containers and freeze them for later use.  Easy Peasy... if you live alone put the chicken in containers and freeze that for a few weeks down the road. Chicken broth can be made of any of the seasoning you like so get experimental.  We like it with lemon juice because we ate it that way as kids but it had semolina in it  and was called Avgolemono.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news butttttt depending on how long you have to be on liquids THIS **** SUCKS. Only time will help it get better and yes the Broth Bites Big Time. I have to be on liquids for 4 weeks, next Monday i can finally eat blender foods. When I'm not at work I'm sleep anything to pass this time. This **** is for the birds but soon when we are sexy and slim it will be all worth it but it damn sure doesn't seem like it now (LOL) best of luck.

I hear ya on the broth- just the smell- but that one posted recipe does sound alot better.  One Q I have- my doc said broth has like 25 grams of protein- all the ones I see show 2 or 3 grams- anybody know hwere to get the heavy protein broths?

Has anyone tried adding protein powder to broth? Meant to try that today before surgery but didn't want anything else.

Unjury has a chicken soup protein 20g for 8oz. I didn't mind it at all...especially if I mixed it with salt free or lo salt chicken broth. They have an unflavored powder as well as vanilla and chocolate. I liked them all.

I got a lot of my broths from restaurants and they were amazing.

Won-ton soup (without the won-ton).
Miso soup.
Chicken, Beef or Fish soup from an assortment of different restaurants.
Order it to go and tell them you want mainly broth. You can filter out any solids when you get home.

You can also make your own broth at home. Buy low-sodium chicken broth and add vegetables, a piece of chicken, spices. Bring it to a boil and you're done. Remove the soilds and freeze the chicken to make chicken salad at a later date.

Boullions are really not the way to go.

Good luck,
George
