How to i stop the pre-op eating
Keep reminding yourself that the food will still be there after surgery and you'll be able to eat it again, 'cause you will.
Start your food diary NOW. It will help make you accountable for what you put in your mouth. As stupid as it sounds, knowing that I have to journal my food makes me stop and think about whether I really need it or not. Don't even try to change your diet right now - just document everything you eat. It's eye-opening.
For me, it's easier to totally abstain from certain foods versus trying to limit portions. And at some point, you just have to get your mind on straight and accept that there are some foods that are triggers for you and they have no place in your life. Start identifying them.
Best of luck!

Ditto! I've been journaling my food and exercise and it helps SOOOO much. It might sound silly to someone who doesn't have to do it but it truely does hold me accountable. There's just something about seeing it in black and white that makes me want to do good. Same with my exercise. I hate to miss a day because then I won't be able to journal it and it's make my stats look bad! It's some crazy challenge I have with myself. My gym offers an interactive website where I keep up with weight, measurements, nutritiion, exercise, etc. It's an awesome tool.
Look at it this way: if you don't get it under control, your surgery might have to be rescheduled. Do you want to prolong the pre-op phase, or do you want to get a move on with having the surgery?
I was where you are now... I even had a decent week where I lost 6 lbs. That weekend I decided to "reward" myself and it snowballed (you can read about it in my blog). I gained back all 6 lbs in a matter of days. That lit a fire under my butt; I was wasting too much time and I needed to get on the ball or risk losing my 5/23 surgery date.
Now, here I am the WEEK OF my pre-op appointment (it's on the 12th) and guess how much weight I need to lose to be down the full amount my doctor wanted me to drop? Yup, I'm 6lbs shy of my pre-op goal.
I'm hoping to drop a couple more between now and Thursday (Aunt Flo is on her way out, so that could be good for 2-3 lbs), but I'm definitely running the risk of my surgeon being a stickler and rescheduling my surgery if he's not happy with where I am. The next available date they had the last time I spoke to them was June 20th, which means another entire month of pre-op dieting when I really only need a week or two.
And all because I just had to have one more slice of pizza, scoop of ice cream, whatever.
I agree that you should start food journaling now... it helps. I use myfitnesspal (there's a bunch of OHers over there) and have it set as one of my homepage tabs so I make sure to keep track throughout the day whenever I'm online.
You don't have to starve yourself with a liquid diet, but protein shakes are your friend (I recommend Unjury Chocolate Splendor). My surgeon has me keeping under 30g of carbs per day and it's worked pretty well so far... I've lost 11 lbs since I started sticking to it in earnest.

It happens. Its not ideal but its not uncommon. I gained 10 pounds waiting for surgery, food funeral after food funeral.
Try to remember you will be able to eat normally just smaller amounts within a few months, and hopefully by then you will have a healthier relationship with food and "normally" will mean healthier choices.
But know that food is not the enemy and you will be able to have your favorites in moderation in the future.

Hey Ms. Lady... You know we've had this conversation and I'm going through the same things and my surgery is 16 days away.....(OMG!!!) I've complained on here and complained to myself, but bottom line is I GOTTA DO IT! LOL And so do you. We can hold each other accountable. Text and call each other, whatever works. WE can and WILL do this! Get excited about the changes you want to see in yourself. I have! That's my motivation! (but I've still be bad though... lol We will talk about that later!)
We got this... We gonna be fierce!

As I wait for surgery, I have to live like I may never get surgery. It helps keep me focused (but I had some health problems discovered during the pre-op that could have possibly kept me from being medically cleared). At the end of the day, my goal is to lose weight, it's not the have surgery, so each day, I have to work towards that goal. (and if I get surgery, great!)
I have found that keeping a blog or writing down how you feel helps with the process. The one thing I can recommend during the pre-op is to learn WHY you eat, so you know how to deal with it after surgery. I have a lot of anxiety and fear about surgery, so it really makes me eat more than I should, but now that I know why I am doing it, it makes it easier to take back control.
