Gastritis?
Anyway long story short...MINE was ACID. Really ******g BAD acid. For the first time since surgery I was given acid pills. BUT of course I HAD to look DEEPER because it was all of a sudden. So anyway I determined my acid was caused by this specific coffee house that I started visiting because they were giving away FREE coupons. And most of my attacks were within an hour of this particular coffee (not Starbucks, lol). I also would notice a precurser to my attacks. I would blech alot and would fell HUNGRY like starving and sure enough I would get an attack.
Making it shorter again =) I can't tell what will cause my acid like I did with the coffee but if I feel blechy or hungry for no reason, I'll take my acid pills for a few days. I haven't had an attack for 2 years now.

Those pains sounds quite similar to mine.
Right below the ribcage and radiating to my upper right back. Usually happens after dinner. Happened to me twice last week. Friggen hurts alright.
Doctor has me scheduled for Gallbladder removal surgery next month. In the meanwhile, when I start feeling pressure/pain, I take a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and it calms the gallbladder. Read that one up by searching for gallbladder pain relief on-line.
