Home and sleeved!! Got a question about restriction!...

Ok, so I am a little loopy still so this will be short.

I have a one ounce cup that I'm using to drink from.. They said I should handle one cup every 15 minutes.. Well I'm drinking my protein and I can easily do two in a row without feeling full... I'm sure I could do another. So that would be 3oz at one time.. Does that seem like too much for someone two days out? My surgeon says he uses a 34 bougie. I would think I'd have crazy restriction right now?

Also, hiccups.. Anyone get crazy hiccups right after surgery? I've been getting them often and of course it hurts!

You are NOT going to feel anything, they just spliced off, stapled, cut your stomach nerves.

That's why they gave you a specific amount to drink. Hiccups are typically a sign of being full, or an air bubble with fluids going down.

Plus, you might not have as much swelling as the next patient, but you surely aren't going to feel a lot in there due to the trauma of the surgery.

Just follow the prescribed guidelines.

Thanks so much!!! You're always so helpful

So, my protein is mixed with water... That can count as daily water intake right? I'm pretty sure it's yes, but I cant seem to remember anything right now lol!

It counted for my "clear" fluid stage.

When I was in the hospital, they told me that, but I didn't hear quite right and found out they said no MORE than 30 ccs every 15 minutes!!

You may not feel anything, but your sleeve is healing, and you don't want to force anything. Sloooow down :)

I had crazy assed hiccups in the hospital and it was not from being full because I was NPO for two days! Everyone is different

Got sleeved the day before you, 8/9. Had one gulp, one large pain and one hiccup.... that was
all it took, (I guess I learn fast)LOL. I drink 1 oz from a shot glass every 15 minutes ans sip water. I like water, I had 48 oz yesterday, sipping slowly.
I am feeling great, but still have on-Q pain pump. Worried if it will have more pain after it comes out?
Welcome and I hope these hiccups go away.

I am doing MUCH better today! I sure do miss my morphine pump though, LOL! My chest and shoulders are killing me! Anyhow, I've slowed down to one ounce every 15 minutes and haven't had hiccups yet.. So yes, is was from me taking in too much! Im drinking Nectar protein mixed with water, so I am counting every little ounce as I get through this phase.
