I recently read that you shouldn't take your calcium with your multi vit.....I've been taking them together since the first week post-op....Will the calcium prevent the absorbtion ob the vitamins?  Did I miss something?  Anyone know something about this?

Calcium supposedly keeps you from absorbing the iron in your multivitamin. Which makes the fact that my One a Day multivitamin contains calcium and iron very lame.

Yep, Calcium impedes the absorption of iron. These 2 supplements should be taken at least 2 hours apart from one another.

If your multi does NOT contain iron then there is no countraindications.

Hey thanks you guys.....my muli vit does contain a small amt of iron.... I think I'm just going to continue to take them together and see what my bloodwork shows next month.  If I do it 2 hours apart from each other then I will be taking vitamins 4 times a day....and I can barely remember to do 2 times a day.....hopefully all will be well with my iron level and i can continue to do it the way I have been.  I get in a lot of protein over 90 mg a day....  :-}
