Ok this may seem crazy but I so badly want to eat a regular salad but I dint know how much salad to eat. Ive never been a big vegetable eater so salad and supplements have always been my way to get the nutrients I need. I was so hoping that after the surgery my taste buds would change but that didn't happen I still hate veggies! Anywhoo I'm looking for Salad suggestions without all the added extra veggies well mainly I guess I need to know how much salad are others eating at this point? Help

I was sleeved 6/27 and still can only fit about 1.5oz (by weight) or 2oz by volume. That being said, when I eat veggies, it's only a couple of bites for the flavor. (edited to add I was cleared for raw veggies by my surgeon at 1mo post-op).

Here are a couple of my faves... (again, just a couple bites to go along with my protein)...

caprise salad (ish)...
cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and diced string cheese mixed with pesto sauce.

Roasted Vegetables... any combo drizzled with olive oil and seasonings, roasted in the oven. Great on/in eggs, as a side dish, with cheese melted on top, with spaghetti or pizza sauce... yum.

Cobb Salad... turkey and cheese, with a cherry tomato, a leaf of torn up lettuce, some avocado, egg if you like it... dip fork in ranch.

Lettuce Wrap... roll turkey breast around a piece of cheese, hummus, or avocado, wrap in a lettuce leaf.

I'll start with I wasn't cleared for raw vegetables until 3 months...

Use whatever you like...basic salad, lettuce, tomatoes, dressing...

I honestly didn't eat a salad till about 6 months and I have NO clue how much, probably about 3oz total weight.  For some salad is a "slider" which means some can eat more then others.

I was a salad person also but I "ran it through the garden" adding everything possible and then piling on the dressing. Probably a 2000 cal salad!! Those days are over.

Now there is very little room for veggies after consuming protein first. I prepare my protein and then only add about 1/8 cup of veggies to the plate. Or do a stir fry with a small portion of veggies with scallops or shrimp--whatever.

Is there any veggie you like? Mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes? I would focus on those.
Or, since I assume you do salad with lettuce, make some "wraps" out of bib lettuce. Frisco did a great photo and recipe a couple of days ago.

What do you like? Maybe we can offer you a recipe or two.

I really love salads, but I coudl not eat them at ALL for at least 6-7  months after surgery. My doc told me that I could eat them... but my tummy said NO! For several months, my stomach really hurt & cramped up after eating salad .

I am almost 1 year out & now I can eat a small salad & it doesn't hurt. Remember that you need to eat protein first, so not a lot of room left for salad. Now I order a lot of salads with grilled chicken or fish on top. I eat the chicken/ protein first, eat a small amout of salad & just leave the rest.

Everybody's recovery is different... your mileage may vary!
