if approved can doctors be switched

Still waiting for approval question is once approved if i decide to switch surgeons at another hospital all together does the approval still count.

I was able to switch my approval to another dr without any problems, I have bcbs nm.

Yes, but...

I believe the approval is for the procedure and the facility and the provider.  If you want to change the provider and/or facility, make sure it is an in-network physician/facility and it wouldn't hurt to have the approval re-approved.

But the approval for YOU to have THAT procedure is already a done deal. (Again this is based on MY experiences.)

My understandng with BCBS is that the approval is for the whole package... doctor & procedure. If you change either , you  have to get a new approval. If you have decided that you do not want to use your current doctor, though, better to get the new approval & be happy with the guy who has your life in his hands!
