It depends on a lot of factors, including any preop dieting that was done, start weight, height, age, sex, etc etc etc etc etc.

You can see my stats below in my signature.

Everyone is different.  Metabolism, pouch size, diet, starting weight, sex, age, diet, following rules...all play into it....

Don't compare yourself to anyone else.....

My surgeon assesses my progress based on a curve of Excess Weight Lost (EWL) he expects his patients to attain month by my.  At 6 months, he expects his patients to be at 60% EWL and that they will lose another 20-40% EWL (ending up at 80-100% EWL) by about 1 year.

For me, I was 263lbs at my 'preop' apointment.  The top end of a Normal BMI is 140lbs for my height meaning I had 123lbs of "Excess Weight" to lose.  At 6 months I was at 67% EWL, down 80lbs or so.  As of this morning I am down 109 or  pounds post-op or approximately 91% just shy of 9 months post-op.

I was down 22% EWL at 1 month,  30% at 2 months, i think.  You can calculate it off my signature, which I can't see while I type this, lol.

There are so many variables. When you are in the losing phase, it always seems like you are losing slowly and behind everyone else in progress. But when you get to goal and look back, it's not that bad. My average was a little over 2 lbs/week. I got to goal in 6.5 months. It flew by and I'm almost a year out now.

I worked up a spreadsheet with some variables in it and ran it out weekly to see when I'd get to goal by how much weight per week lost. It came out pretty close. I was 2 weeks behind my "schedule".

On an average you lose about 8 to 12 pounds a month. The first month you will lose double this because of water and IV weight.

Well assuming you are directed to do a 2 week liquid only pre-op diet, and you clean out your system the day before surgery with the osmoprep, and you continue to observe the post-op eating-drinking guidelines, most morbidly or super morbidly obese people experience a loss of 40 to 50 lbs by the time they are 6 weeks post-op (8 weeks total). The more you have to lose the faster you will lose in the beginning. If you have 100 Lbs or less to lose then your results will be slower but not because you are doing anything wrong, rather it's because your loss is relative to your total excess weight that needs to come off (make sense?).
It's a life change.. not a race so just focus on doing your best with diet, exercise, and supplements and the rest will just take care of itself ok?
Take care... Craig
