Nothing really to back this up......

We all read the same info...... here is my observation after over 2 years on this forum as a student of WL through WLS/VSG

- A lot of people that stick to a 1200 or so calorie eating plan..... Have a hard time making goal.....

- A lot of people that stick to the 600-800 calorie program make goal......

Just an observation..... not telling anyone what to do.....we all read the same info......just an observation......

I'm with you.  If you eat dense protein in correctly measured portions, 3/4 times/day... you should struggle to even get in 600-800 calories.

Current weight: 170 lbs.

Once I reach goal, this cow will be killed & eaten... 2 ounces at a time.

Total includes 56 lbs. lost on 2-month low carb pre-op diet.  Start date 9/13/10.

While I don't stick to 600-800 calories strictly, I've done fine eating 800-900 for the last 6 weeks or so.

Some people might think its horrible to eat 900 calories, but i do what works for me. Im not eating 1200 calories so maybe this post doesn't apply to me, but I don't think im going to fail because im not eating closer to 600 cal. Hell, I lost 85 lbs eating 1800 cal/day before surgery.

Well, I'm no expert, so this is just my thoughts.  But I would think it would vary greatly depending on the activity level of the individual.  A person who lives a sedentary life is going to require fewer calories than someone who has an extremely active lifestyle -- and then any variation in between.  So yes the 600-800 calorie thing is a good ballpark, but depending on ativity level, a high number of calories may translate to successful weight loss for someone who is really active.
Just my thoughts.

I wish, I had kept a diary!!!

I remember fighting with the dietitian in the hospital!! She wanting 2400 calories a day going through my tube feed and I saiddddddddddd noooooo!!!!...She said I needed the nutrients and for healing..I said, I don't need all those calories...We settled on 1800!! I still lost, but, it was slower!!!...I have no idea on the calorie count when eating...I just remember the first year wasn't a lot..Mostly meat, eggs, and cheese...
