What is average weightloss in year for sleeve patients?
It's going to vary for each person depending on how much weight they have to lose.
I was told by my surgeon's office they expect patients to have lost 60% of their excess weight at 6 months postop and 80-100% by a year. You'll sometimes see it expressed as 60% EWL or 80% EWL. It's caluclated as follows:
Weight @ surgery - weight for 'normal' BMI = Excess Weight
Weight lost/Excess Weight = % EWL
For me it looks like this:
259 (Surgery weight) - 140 (Normal BMI) = 119 Excess Weight
108.4 (WL since surgery)/119= .91 or 91% EWL to date.
