I didn't feel any restriction until I was on soft foods. Are you tracking your fluids and protein? I was told to get in 70+ g of protein, 64+ oz of fluids and 600-800 calories.
I wouldn't worry about drinking more protein unless you're over the 70g or 600 calories - which I doubt you are at this stage. So drink away! Protein is very good for you.
