bone structure
So, 7 months out, I am doing well, with a total of 73 lbs lost. I had been looking forward to getting to this weight as a mini-goal, because since I had a large frame, 144 would put me in the normal BMI range for the first time since highschool. *yay*.
Um.... Did the frame test again yesterday. Turns out I don't have a large frame - I just had fat wrists. *sigh*.
Well, 132, here I come *grin*

its just to see what body type you have (large, medium, or small). do a search for body frame test or frame size calculator. You enter your height and your wrist measurement but I don't think its accurate until we get smaller because we have fat around our wrist. I assume my wrist wil get smaller too.
Even though my wrist are small, I'm considered large framed by elbow and knee joint measurements my surgeon did at my initial consult.
I looked disgusting at 118-119lbs even though that is perfectly acceptable per the BMI chart. Bones protruding, and my ribs sticking out was not attractive so I gained up to 125-130lbs for my maintenance weight.
You've done fabulous thus far, keep rockin' your sleeve ! ! !

Your frame determines if you have a small, medium, or large bone structure.
Easiest way is to wrap your longest finger around your wrist.
If the finger over laps you are small
If the fingers touch you are medium
If they do not touch you are large
You can also measure your wrists. There are charts online. Just google determine frame size

Oh goodness, those tests (all 3 I found online) say I am small framed. My goal weight is currently set to 160 with the admission we can negotiate when I get there. With the small frame, it says I should be around 135. Guess we'll find out in a few months (being optimistic!) how that looks. If I were to hit 135 that would be almost 200 lbs weight loss! Thank you for blowing my mind! LOL

I don't think this test is very accurate. I definitely have a large frame -- I have shoulders like a linebacker, but I also have extremely long fingers. My fingers are longer than my 6'4" ex's. If I went by this test, I would be considered a small frame, but I'm definitely not small, even when I'm thin.
I think the best way to determine goal weight is to have a body composition test like a Dexa Scan, Bod Pod test, or even just weighing on the Tanita Scales that give a Lean Body Mass print-out. After figuring out your LBM, add on the percentage of Body Fat that is acceptable for you.
There's no way that the ratio of finger length to wrist circumference is accurate or scientific, even though I've heard the method perpetuated in other places as well.
