...at the same time?? Please share your experiance.  Did you have damage done by your band that wasn't seen until they go in?  Did you have problems that was known about before surgery? How long were you in surgery? Was your healing time longer? Any input is greatly appreciated.

 Hello.

I went from a band to sleeve.  I had a band slip so I had a pouch sitting on top of my band.  They did the removal and sleeve at the same time.  My recovery was ok..  I went back to work 2 weeks later.

If you have any specific questions please inbox me.

Good Luck!

On my way!!

I had my band removed and my sleeve all in one procedure. However, I know of a few others who were not able to be sleeved at the same time due to damage from the band. There doesn't seem to be any way to know until the surgeon gets in there.

I can't remember how long I was in surgery, but I think it was about 30-45 minutes longer than the VSG alone surgery.

I went back to work 1.5 weeks later, but didn't really feel myself until about 3-4 weeks out. My recovery was pretty smooth though.

I had my band removed and was sleeved in one surgery. I was one of the lucky ones and only had minimal scar tissue and no erosions. The band did leave me with a hernia that they repaired when I was sleeved. It took 2.5 hours to remove the band and revise to the sleeve. I do not think my healing time was any longer, but it could have been. The first two weeks were rough for me after surgery. I had a hard time getting liquids in--water tasted funny. Warm chamomile tea saved me from getting dehydrated and Premier Protein shakes from Costco.

OK debanders thanks for your responses.  All of you who answered my questions so far on this post have the same goals weights of 170-175 just as myself.  Things that make you say "hmmmmmm"  Lol.

My band had to come out under emergency cir****tances, so there was no way to do both at the same time, I did have a massive hiatal hernia that they did not know about though, and they fixed that when they went back in to sleeve me.

I went from band to sleeve in one surgery and had a text book recovery except for some pain on my left side that went on for awhile.  My goal weight is 115 however. But i was drinking 120oz liquid 3 days out of surgery and while the recovery was slower than that from the band, it was still pretty good. If you've had the EGD and he saw no problems then you are probably fine.  Good luck
