Blue Shield CA

Hello Everyone,

Just curious how long it took to get approved for surgery by Blueshield if any of you have them as your insurance provider...thank you all for your answers in advance :)

 I have Blue Shield and it didn't take longer than 2 months, they are pretty good about approving the surgery. Good luck!!!

did it take you two months to get approved or two months from the beginning of the process till you got your surgery?

I have Blue Shield CA (HMO) and it took about a week for my medical group to approve it.  Blue Shield had little to do with it since it was HMO.....my medical group reviewed everything and got to approve/deny.

Much better system than my old insurance (HealthNet.....otherwise known as HealthNOT).

That being said....if you are PPO....its a bit different and it goes directly to BSCA.  That might take significantly longer.  Good luck!

Exactly....and if that is the case it is up to your MEDICAL GROUP.....they have the power in their contract with BS.

I am having a VSG.....and its being done this Thursday (1/12).  It's at Mills Peninsula hospital in Burlingame, CA.
