Okay so I thought I was so organized and had everything ready for me when I got home.  Wrong... I've always taken Nexium, but what I have is a capsule (lg) so I've just been suffering.  I thought I read someplace we VSGers can't take pills in capsule form... is this true?  What is the preferred brand?  I see my PCP on Tuesday so can get a new prescription.

I have been taking my Prevacid in 30mg capsule right from post op with no problems. I have used it for last 15 years works best for me.

I honestly don't know why people freak out over capsules.... I understand a few people don't have enough acid to open them up, but most do just fine.  My surgeon makes a pretty tight sleeve (32f) and I take a big ol' 1,200 mg fish oil capsule just fine.  I take my surgeon's PPI capsules just fine as well.  Now, I don't take them on a full stomach of course, but personally, never had an issue with taking pills after my surgery.
