Anyone ever NOT gotten their cycle after VSG?

It's officially two months late now.. and no I'm not pregnant LOL
I had problems in my past with it not coming for 3 months and then it lasting for up to 6 months STRAIGHT!! But for about a year I had got it back in check didn't have to be on progesterone any longer and was actually quite regular and short periods, which I liked.
I was due to get mine ten days post up and it never made an appearance. I would have thought with the weight loss my body would be more apt to stay regular. *sigh*

I have read on here that surgery really screws with your hormones.

Well I know a lot of estrogen gets released cuz we store it in our fat, but for the most part I've only ever heard of people saying they got their monthly cycle ahead of schedule, even the nurse said she's never come across someone saying theirs was delayed.

I had surgery 12/27 and didn't get the period that was due 2 weeks later. I'm on the pill so I was a bit surprised. I'm not going to worry unless I miss the next one, too.

I had mine the week after surgery and then it was another 2 months before I had another one. So surgery definately messes with your cycle.

I had a horrible period after surgery, and then they got pretty regular and super light/short, and then I started missing them... since I know im not pregnant, im not running to the gyno since I enjoy it's absence too much lo.

But, i'd say that if it concerns you, make an appt with your doc, but id say that anything major to your body like surgery is likely to impact your cycle. Give it some time to straighten out.

the nurse at my pre-op visit told me that most people start their period right after surgery even if its not time for their monthly visitor!  I was prepared and brought my supplies in my hospital bag and the day I left the hospital it did start and lasted about a week.  Then no sign of a period for 2 months.  I was not terribly concerned b/c I knew I was not pregnant but I was previously on the pill and wanted to start back but usually start the Sun after my period starts.  I was going to give it another few weeks and call the Dr but it did come....so my advice is to be patient but if you are worried call the Dr just to make you feel better. ...btw....it was a very heavy period the 1st few days but I think that also has to do with not being on the pill.  good luck!

Mine have been regular and one time. No misses here. The first 1 after surgery was kind of heavy though. I got the Mirena IUD on Friday so hopefully my periods will stop!

Before surgery and weight loss mine were regularly irregular, that is they came every 5-7 weeks, unless I skipped one. And they were light.

Now they come every 28029 days and are fairly heavy-- I was hoping they'd be lighter and shorter after surgery but that was not in my cards!

I'm just happy I'm healthy and hopeful that at some point in the next few years (after I pass my surgeon's 18-24 month suggestion) I'll be able to conceive.
