Nan, sounds like you have some reality on being anemic, here's my Feb blood test, how does it compare to what you know?  They told me even though the  iron was low, the TIBC was good and that made them say its ok for now, they will keep an eye on it...  I googled it but it all made me fall asleep and I didn't need my CPAP machine......LOL   How did your treat ours when you had it?

I  was reading up on this see below:
For the body, food is all about energy. Energy comes in the form of calories consumed. Calories come from different types of macronutrients---fat, carbohydrate or protein. Even though each kind of macronutrient supplies energy, the way your body uses this fuel varies. When you make a giant shift in the type of fuel you use, it takes time for the body to adjust

Hi Mary, well this is not my first low carb rodeo but just the same, this one is more for keeps then any other time.   I read the link, thanks, as it says my body has adjusted to the low carb level in the past, it suggests if its not, you should add more carbs.   I may do that, today I'm more inclined to
keep to my plan and re-question my docs about my iron levels...then reassess again later..

Let me tell you honey, I experienced the same thing. I'm in grad school, I work a job where thinking is essential. I started to totally forget things, couldnt concentrate on my school work to the point of needing turoring. I figured it was my low carb diet. As soon as I upped my carb intake I felt so much better as far as my brain fog and have been doing well ever since. I dont think low carb is for everyone. I thought my weight loss would lesson because of it but it hasn't. Im still losing steadily. I hope you figure out what is causing it for you.

Shea,  It sure sounds like you know exactly whats going on with me.   I added half an apple to my diet yesterday and today... and I splurged on my carbs this morning with oatmeal which kicked me up to 45 carbs today and I felt better today but I am reluctant to go too high, in fact today this is first time in at least a month I got over about 25 carbs.... so it might be as simple as you say.   I am heading back to my normal plan tomorrow to see how I feel and I scheduled a visit with a nutritionist and had some labs ordered to check my iron again and ferritin and alot more and scheduled an appointment with my doctor in 3 weeks too see what he thinks.  I don't understand the labs, I have very low iron and extremely high ferritin like 338, so I have to figure out  why that is too, that might be part of my story too.

I cant work in a fog, so one way or another I have to clear all this up....  I looked back at my food logs a three months before surgery and I was over 100 carbs a day and had no problems losing 3 lbs a week back then on 1200 calories and felt great...(not going that high if I make changes)  Thanks for sharing your experience... best to you and your family and grad school....

Sorry I missed your post. I don't recall my labs, the doc had those.  She told me to take ferrous sulfate or any kind of iron supplement over the counter, once a day.  I tried two kinds and liked the generic feosol, once a day.  Didn't hurt my stomach.  I felt better in a matter of a few days.  I was able to get off of it until I got pregnant- then I got anemic again and took it for the remainder of my pregnancy.  It really makes a huge difference in how I feel.  I remember I was borderline low also- not anything alarming- but even a little made a big difference in how I feel!

Yea thanks for the reminder about these, I will ask for those B12 shots at my next visit, for a few months, so I can be sure to eliminate that and get to the bottom of this....Thanks..
