Goal Outfit

So a friend who had RNY 7 years ago (she's one of the poster children and has maintained a 130lb weight loss) says I should go out now and buy a dress/outfit in my goal size (size 10 for me) and hang it in my closet so I have a physical manifestation of where I want to be.  Have any of you done this?  Did you do something different?

I have rewards for myself, like once I get below 200 I will start taking riding lessons again and when I have a normal BMI (149) I'm going to get a tattoo.  But those aren't physical things I can have now, so maybe the dress is a good idea. . .

I haven't done it personally b/c I'm just not one to buy something without trying it on but a friend of mine who is also in the process of getting sleeve approval went a bought a sexy lil' number and looks at it every day. For me just looking at the before and after photo's are good. I know what my before looks like just can't wait for the after! Good luck whatever you decide on!

I thought about going out and buying a pair of jeans for my first goal. I have been trying to get in a 14 for the last 18 years. Not asking much right? I have not been able to do it to save my life, I get to a size 16 and I get complacent and shortly there after the weight starts going up again. I am determined to get there and beyond this time.

The dress idea may or may not be wasted cashdolla because just because you fit in a "size" does not mean the *style* will be flattering, you know?

So maybe do it with a thrift store dress that you like, so if its not a flattering cut you will not be out of a nice chunk of money?

I do that with Pinterest. I pin outfits that I would love to be able to wear some day as a "goal outfit"

Pinterest is a great idea.  I sew and already bought a Michael Kors pattern for a dress to make but I can't do it until I'm done because I'll need my actual measurements.  But Pinterest is a fantastic idea for that.

I have 3 brand new shirts and a formal skirt to go with them hanging in my closet right now. They are a size 8 and my goal is to be able to wear them for a wedding I am performing in July. And my next door neighbor who is a tiny lil thing passed on a ton of VERY nice clothes to me and a lot of them are still too small but not small enough that I wont ever see that size so I have them packed neatly away for now. Next weekend my girlfriend and both my daughters are coming over to help me make outfits from everything and we will be taking pictures so I have visual references. i can't wait. I love shopping in my own closet lol.

I changed so many sized while losing weight, I had no idea what size I would be when I got to goal.  And the sizes have changed over the years too.  I would have an outfit in mind, but would not buy one ahead of time unless you can afford to donate it to a shelter or food bank if it doesn't fit when you get to goal.
