I am 6 weeks out and I havent lost anymore weight since the 1st 18 lbs. I lost 18 lbs post op and at the 3rd week I stalled. Its been 6 weeks and I havent lost anymore weight. What am I doing wrong? Have I failed weight loss surgery too??

No you have not failed! Your body just had major surgery and lost lots of weight. Now it is just adjusting. The key to weight loss is consistency. Stick to what you know you should do and you will be fine!

You're not doing anything wrong. I lost 18 pounds by 3 weeks post-op then stalled for the next 3 weeks. I'm sure your weight loss will kick in again very soon.

There will be many stalls along the way... the 3-week stall is just the most common one. Like Amber said, just keep going, and the scale will behave again.

I bet your clothes start fitting differently before the scale moves again

Thanks everyone. I was really beginning to feel defeated. I am positive about 1 thing, though, I haven't gained any weight. So thats enough to keep me motivated. I just really thought I would have lost more by now. But I will take everyone's advice and keep doing the right thing. Oh and by the way, I do see a difference in my clothes.

What are you eating now? Are you getting in at least 64 oz og water/fluid?

IMO, water/fluid is crucial to weight loss.

Stalls are maddening - don't let them make you feel like a failure. Use them as an opportunity to reevaluate your diet, exercise and water intake. If you are doing what you need to do, try adding in one more glass of water or add in 1 mile of walking.

*Hugs* I hope you see a loss soon.

Your body goes through many adjustments after surgery so be patient with it. What are you eating and how much protein, water, carbs, etc. are you taking in?

I am eating solids. Carbs, protein etc. I have notice more carb eating. Maybe thats causing the stall. I try to drink my fluids, but its hard getting in the 64 0z/day.

Everyone has said it, but I will too - the dreaded 3 week stall. It stinks, but at least half of us had it. I had 4 stalls at least that long on my way down. Hated every one, felt like you did especially the first couple of times, but honestly it just means your body is adjusting.

It'll start again. Meanwhile, focus on getting your protein and liquids because getting good levels of those will help you lose efficiently whenever your body is ready to give it up already with this stall.
