Pre-Op Diet -- Is this unusual?

My doctor's pre-op diet is 1200 calories a day.  For those without lactose intolerance or diabetes he says Slim Fast.  Five liquid OR bar per day, your choice.  One meal with 3 oz lean meat and 2 non-starchy veg.

It seems like everybody else goes all-liquid. What do you think about this?

My pre-op diet was a variation of Slimfast.  Every doc does something different.  Just follow instructions!

Thanks. I'm relieved to know that.  I like that I can have that one meal and the bars since so far the liquids are yuck.  I'm only buying a 4-pack at a time until I find something I like.

I definitely consider myself lucky. I just needed a bit of reassurance that this wasn't different from what everybody else in the world uses. LOL

That's the purpose of this, too, to decrease the size of the liver.  It must do the job, I guess.

Thank you!

This is my first day doing it, and believe me, I'm very relieved to know I will have real food for dinner.

Not unusual, every doc has their own way of doing things, just follow what they say (although I would look for better protein sources for AFTER surgery, Slimfast is very high in carbs, sugar and cals for the protein that you get from it). Mine required me to do a month of Medifast before my band, and then nothing before my sleeve.
