I've lost 13 pounds since my surgery, along with the 13 on the preop diet.  He figures I'll lose around twenty in the next month by the time I see him again.

He also grinned and told me I could go on solids.  "You mean, like, pureed food?" "If you want, but if you want to try hamburger, that's fine, too."

I must have shown my shock.

He just grinned and said, "Small bites, chew-chew-chew, you're not going to have any trouble."

Okay.

I'm still pondering that one.  LOL

However, I think I'm going to test this tonight, maybe.  I cooked a pot roast for my husband that is so soft (slow-cooked) that I think I'm going to try a tiny bite and chew-chew-chew and see what happens.  If this backfires, I will let him know.

Oh you'd better believe I'll let him know.  LOL

WOW that's amazing and I'm so happy for your loss! LOL (I still chuckle when I say that!) CONGRATULATIONS and let us know how the pot roast goes, it sounds delicious. I'd put some in the freezer if I were you if it doesn't work now, maybe it'll work better a week from now.

I've been freezing soft veggies straight from the garden so maybe I'd be better off taking them out and putting the pot roast in!

Doc had me do semi-solids but not mushy at 9 days. Here's a couple of things I've noticed.
If I make a tuna salad with egg, tuna and mayo, I can eat like 1.5 tbs of it. Very slowly and I still chew the heck out of it.
If I eat chicken or fish (I am still going to wait a little while to try beef), I can eat 1oz or less. It's very odd. Oh, I did have some deli ham slices for lunch today and that was just over 1oz. It was 3 tiny thin slices.

I guess the reason I'm saying this is yes, I knew we put things on small plates and all but I don't think I actually knew how little we ate.

Good luck and yes, chew chew chew.

I'm not sure I'm really going to try the pot roast.  If I do, I'll mince it very finely first.  I'm not up for moosh instead of meat, but finely minced and then chewed well might be okay.

OTOH, I may not pu**** that far.

Im 2 months out today and still have not tried beef. No hamburger, steak meat, no pot roast, nothing that contains beef. Im only eating chicken, fish, tuna, and deli meats (Lean turkey, Lean ham) for now. Just my personal thing but I was cleared to eat those foods just havent had the urge to eat it yet. My new tummy loves chicken, fish, and tuna so I'll stick to that till I want to try something new. =)

Before I had my surgery my husband talked to a work friend who had it six months ago, and he can't eat chicken.  He says it's too dry and he just can't handle it.  OTOH, he was eating grilled shrimp that day, and does eat beef.

I didnt really have any of the 'phases' after surgery. I had purees, but my NUT's version of purees is different from alot of people on here. I ate beef and steak at around 1 month out. I think you should hold off on steak, but beef is fine. It is hard on a new tummy.

Thanks. I'm going to hold off on the beef, for sure.  In fact, I'm thinking about fish.

But I didn't have this on my mind at all, was actually holding back from pureed veggies out of my garden, so it was quite a change of thinking!
