I'm pre op too.  I've used MFP for the past 2.5 months to track my calories for my preop diet.  It keeps me motivated and moving toward goal.  It's helped me to show weight loss prior to surgery...which is required by my insurance company.  I'm sure it will help me equally post op.  :)

I found when I track daily, I lose weight. When I don't track, I don't lose  -- usually happens on busy weekends. For abot a month and a half, I thought "I've got this - no need to track daily." That was when I had a long stall. You really need to track early out to get used to how much protein you need eat -- easy when you do protein drinks, but not as easy when you get it from food.

MFP has a feature that you can customize your intake. I have mine set at 800 cal, 90g protein and 50g carbs. Weekends are tough tracking because I'm busy doing stuff with the kids, but that's when I need it most. Someone suggested I plug in all my food for the day and just eat that. It does work!

Good luck to you!!

I have logged my food on mfp every day since I got the account, and I love it. Really helps me to keep things in perspective, and I love that I can use the ap on my phone if I'm out and need to make a quick decision about a meal. Makes being out and about much more manageable!

I log everything on it daily and check in with my MFP friends at least daily. I find its a great source of information about my eating and of giving and receiving support.

Thanks. I just logged in and tracked everything that I ate today, I am still under calories, maybe I will have a cheesetick or yogurt. I made some pretty bomb teriyaki chicken kabobs with mushroom, squash, onion, bell pepper today on my forman grill, it was sooo good, and I was happy that I didnt even miss the white rice like I usually would have made, yay!. Like I said, I am still preop, but I have been concentrating on eating my protein and not really having any sides except veggies. I have been doing pretty good and adjusting already to eating and waiting 30 minutes to drink water, not as hard as I thought, thank goodness!!! LOL. Well, since the last time I had logged in, I haved dropped 5 lbs, which is great! Now I just need some My Fitness Pal friends for support

I'm preop, I started using it a couple days after my consult. I log all my meals as I eat them or before if I know what I'm having.
