Will it stop?

So, I think I'm doing ok, I'm 50lbs down since surgery 3 months ago.  Not the fastest loser but not slow either.  I'm very happy with my 3-4lbs I see every week.  I've had one 1lb week (had bronchitis) and one 2lb week other than that it's been 3-4.  So, will it stop?  I keep waiting for it to slow down and I'm prepared for that (not that I want it to) but I figure at some point I'm just going to weigh enough less that I can't continue that level of loss.

I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just a planner and like to be ready for things to come.  So as you've lost weight at what point did the weight loss slow down?  How did you handle that realization?  As most everyone knows I exercise heavily, so I'm not sure upping exercise is going to happen, or even be healthy and I'm not going to drop my calories below 600 either, so I guess I just have to take what comes?

My weight loss slowed down when my calories went up. Even now, when i drop my calories - WL is still slow. Trust me, rare is the person who cant stop losing weight or has difficulty maintaining. I hat e it - i deal with it, and I go up/down on an emotional roller coaster wondering if I'll ever lose more weigh and/or reach goal, but I just wake up every day and tell myself my only option is to keep trying. Its not like I can use slow WL as an excusse to eat more - it would basically become a self-fulfilled prophecy at that point if I did

Figuring out and balancing an athletic lifestyle vs wls diet can be hard in terms of optimum nutrition, but getting in enough calories shouldn't be a problem.

I know you exercise a lot too.  When did it slow down for you?  I'm at 185 and at 179 I'll be overweight instead of obese.  At some point 3-4lbs a week just won't be realistic anymore, right?  My body just won't need as many calories to keep it going so it'll come off slower.

I don't even know what I will do with the information, except maybe keep myself from going nuts. I'm just terrified it's all going to come to a screaching hault at 170 lbs and I'll be a failure!

I still usually lose 3 to 4 lbs a week.  Early on I had 5 to 7 lb weeks.  It was around the 4 month mark when it slowed down for me.

The trick is to keep your activity level high.  You are doing right by exercising regualarly.  You don't have to exercise crazy, but as long as you keep pushing yourself a little bit more you'll do fine.

As for handling it, I channel my surgeon telling me "Stay on plan, the weight will come off".  I go to my support groups and realize I am not alone in this.  I come on here and see everyone else having the same thoughts I have.

One difference is that I never take my calories above 600.  When I hit goal I will start amping them up 200 calories a wee****il I find my balance point.

I exercise A LOT!  At least an hour a day 6 days a week, 2 of them strength training and the other days cardio.  3 days a week I actually exercise 2x because I ride my horse in the evening now.  I've found that 650-750 gives me just the right amount of energy along with the weight loss.  For now at least.

I didn't slow down much until I hit a normal BMI. I had lost 32lbs pre-op, as well, so my first couple of pre-op months weren't as 'big' in terms of loss as some. I exercised all along,  and I added weight training in Month 3.  My body composition tests between Month 9 and 12 showed I gained a pound of muscle during that time and I've gained another 2 since then.

 Here are my stats:

Month 1 - 21.9
Month 2 - 12.5
Month 3 - 12.8
Month 4 - 11.2
Month 5 - 11.4
Month 6 -   9.2
Month 7 - 11.2 (Achieved Overweight)
Month 8 - 10.6
Month 9 -   7.6
Month 10 - 6.0
Month 11 - 7.4 (Achieved Normal BMI @ 10.5 months)
Month 12 - 4.6 (Started upping calories @ 11.5 months)

I took off another 4lbs in Months 13-16. I bounce around, though, do to fluid retention from  a medical condition. I'm also much stronger than I was at month 12.  I saw a big strength gain when I went over 1200-1300 calories a day.

 month 1 - 22
month 2 - 11 (that's that 1 1lb and 2lb week from sickness)
month 3 - 16

This is where I sit now, so it seems pretty normal. I should achieve overweight in the next 2 weeks, barring some sort of catastrophe.  It's nice to see your' #'s didn't drop too much after you hit overweight.  I just have this sense of dread that it's going to come crashing to a halt.

I am only averaging 2 lbs a week and if I let it would make me crazy that you are ave. 3-4 lbs a week1.  I am month out and am exercising 6 days a week (cardio) for 45-60 minutes a day.  I have to believe that I am building muscle and toning up and that is why I am not seeing the scale moving down as fast.  I know everyone is different too.
I keep my cals at 400-600 also.  Eating as much protein as I can can and carbs
