Gaining Weight
Well, once again I got on a scale and have gained. Seems no matter what I am trying, I just keep getting bigger and bigger. At last night's meeting at the hospital, I was 312.5....sighs. I have lowered my food intake and added a protein shake instead of lunch and been out doing alot more each day and still I gain weight. I can't wait for my sleeve soI can put a end this. I know its only a tool and there is gonna be a HUGE life change but no matter what I doing, nothing seems to work ! I so wanted to lost weight before surgery to show to myself I can do it.
P.S. Tried to change the health tracker and it does not want to change..lol

My weight has crept up on me through this pre-op period also....just a few pounds but still it is not the direction i was hoping to go. It is frustrating when you really feel you are making changes that should help you start to lose weight. I started walking more and cut out soda and caffine, reduce carbs and I gain instead of lose. It just reinforces to me why I need WLS in the first place. It's really my last hope of ever being close to a normal weight again.
We will both get there. My surgeon doesn't care about me losing weight before. It's only me that is annoyed by it. Do you know when you will be having your surgery? Mine is scheduled for Aug 6 which is now just 33 days away. Somehow it still doesn't seem real.

It's frustrating.... I'm so with you on that..... Worked like a devil the past 3 months and lost 16lbs but doc wanted me to lose 25.... So now doing optifast for two weeks. Just finished day 4. Not a happy duck! I see the surgeon tomorrow for my last Preop visit. So fingers cross that things moved this week.... My scale isn't budging and it makes me mad! You do all the right things and...... But I know in the end if I stay on the path the scale will show a loss..... Oh I can't wait till the 17th!
Keep doing the right things!

3 months before surgery i had a lot of anxiety and ate like crazy, i gained 25 lbs in 3 months and i was devestaed but now i am 11 days post op and i have already lost 17lbs. don't stress too much about it, i tried to diet because i thought to myself the more i can lose now the greater the impact will be after surgery, but instead i just gained. try to eat normal because once you get your sleeve everything will change.
Thanks everyone....not sure of the surgery date as of yet. The insurance lady at the doctor's office says it can take 10-15 working days to get approval. Then the 3 week pre-op apointment then surgery. They have had all the paperwork they asked for now for a week. Ya'all are right, I can be hard on myself alot. I have just been trying so hard and nothing works....makes me wonder if I really can do this. I am having major doubts right now and not having my family to back me up is a problem also.
How frustrating!!
I just wanted to ask if you had explored any hormonal reasons for your difficultly in losing weight? I had cushing's disease, which caused me to suddenly gain well over 100 pounds and I couldn't lose it! ****il I had pituitary surgery and went into remission... even then, I needed the help of the VSG to get it off). Thyroid is another - and much more common - culprit for weight issues. But that is just the tip of the iceberg.
If you are making great efforts to lose weight and it just isn't happening, I think it would be well worth talking to your doctor about it, or even an endocrinologist. It can be hard to find a good one that won't just brush you off and say "diet and exercise more" ... but when you try so hard to lose weight and it just wont happen, you really have to wonder if there is something medical going on.
Just something to think about. Maybe you've already explored this. Given my past experience, I thought it important to urge you to consider this possibility. It doesn't mean you shouldn't get the sleeve, just that there maybe other issues at hand that can be dealt with and greatly assist you on your journey!
